Is battery swapping about to have its breakout moment in 2025? The signs all point to yes. Following the announcement of Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited's Choco-SEB batteries in late December, we now have images suggesting CHERY Exeed models will be among the first to be compatible with NIO battery swap stations, and an agreement between SAIC Motor and CATL for battery swap-capable cars. These revelations suggest both Nio and CATL will be twin pillars driving battery-swapping in the EV industry in the years ahead, with CATL benefitting most as the providers of the batteries. Official image of XPENG's ninth model, the G7 SUV, have surfaced online ahead of an expected MIIT filings reveal later this week. The new model is expected to sit above the G6, use the same 800-volt platform as the P7+, and target the Zeekr 7X and soon-to-arrive Tesla Model Y refresh with a likely starting price under RMB 200,000. A full 20cm longer than the brand's previous flagship, the 09, the 900 is a bit of a behemoth boasting as many as three motors, 630kW of combined power, 10-degree rear-wheel steering, dual-chamber air suspension, twin 30-inch 6k screens, 31-speakers, and second-row seats that can spin to face the third row. Our final review of the year turned out to be the final ever review of the fledgling Jiyue brand, with the company closing its doors just days after we recorded this piece. But rather than becoming irrelevant, this review serves as a poignant reminder that of all the Chinese EV brands that could have died, Jiyue didn't deserve to be one of them, with the Frank Wu-penned 07 proving a genuine competitor to the Xiaomi SU7 in almost every department. Stunning to behold, and premium, practical, and high-tech to boot, the 07's many talents really warranted a longer lifespan than this. This was its last dance. 👇 https://lnkd.in/eKVWArHn
