Launch of LUVOPRINT® - Dedicated and cost-effective high-performance materials for FGF 3D printing LUVOPRINT is a product line of high-performing materials for fused granulate fabrication (FGF), a 3D printing process that utilizes granules instead of filaments or powders. The materials are engineered to manufacture components, molds, jigs and fixtures in a broad range of demanding applications e.g., ranging from materials for structural applications to materials for molds for curing composites in autoclaves under high temperature and pressure. Case Study 3D Printing To ensure reliable and thorough cleaning of the extruder barrels of our compounding lines, our process engineers have developed a new process using a self-designed device. An adapter with an integrated safety device was designed (photo) and built for safe and easy handling of the device. The housing was created using 3D filament printing (FFF). LUVOCOM® 3F PPS 9938 CF (carbon fiber reinforced) was used as the material. The requirements for the component are - High strength and rigidity - Dimensional stability - Low weight (for easy handling) - Temperature and chemical resistance An initial prototype was created quickly and inexpensively. The design could then be tested in practice and optimizations to the housing could be easily implemented. The printed housings can be used immediately without reworking. Different customized adapters were produced for each of our systems. Advantages of 3D printing in this application: - Fast creation of prototypes and final components - Time saving compared to a metal solution: 80% - Cost savings compared to a metal solution: 70% - Spare parts can be produced at any time.
