Two nature libraries set up by Sateri and Conservation International have been selected by the Chinese Society Forestry to be part of the China’s Nature Library Collection. The Migratory Bird and Great Swan Bookhouses in Jiangxi Province were part of Sateri’s partnership with Conservation International to restore and conserve Poyang Lake, the country’s largest freshwater lake. A key part of our collaboration is advancing community-driven conservation efforts. The Migratory Bird Bookhouse is the first bird conservation-themed rural library in Jiangxi. It was transformed from an old farmhouse into a multi-functional space which houses over 400 books, activity areas, bird-themed exhibits and educational tools like the “Birds and Characters” interactive displays and bird specimens. It also serves as a hub for children’s extra-curricular learning, offering reading, painting and birdwatching activities, as well as for community discussions and conducting trainings. The Great Swan Bookhouse is established at the Kangshan Primary School that serves as a library, nature classroom and study hall. It houses around 700 nature-related books and serves over 400 students and teachers, fostering awareness and promoting local biodiversity. These efforts are helping to nurture positive behavioural change and empower individuals to protect their environment and ensure the longevity of this vital ecosystem. Poyang Lake is crucial for flood regulation along the Yangtze River Delta that is essential to the environment, biodiversity and local economies. Through our partnership with Conservation International, we’re ensuring its long-term preservation for future generations. This certification, awarded by SGS Laboratories, confirms that Sateri’s nonwoven fabrics are fully biodegradable and safe for disposal in water systems, with no harmful environmental impact. Made from 100% renewable, plant-based fibers, our nonwoven materials are used in a variety of products, including wet wipes, sanitary napkins, facial masks, gauze, bandages, and more. These bio-based fabrics are designed to biodegrade quickly and safely within just 28 days in both soil and water, offering a greener, low-carbon choice for consumers. Exploring the intersection of sustainability and innovation, the annual Sateri Fashion Innovation Conference recently brought industry leaders to Keqiao, Zhejiang Province — one of the world’s largest textile production bases and trading hubs, with a quarter of the world’s fabric traded here annually — to discuss green fibre applications. During the panel dialogue “Material Development and Value Co-Creation,” industry leaders from the fibre, fabric, and retail brand sectors candidly discussed pressing industry topics and shared strategies for expanding the use of eco-friendly fibre, Lyocell, to enhance its competitiveness. Mr Xu Wenfeng, General Manager of Hongguang Textile, highlighted the advantages of Lyocell products, noting their low shrinkage rates and high cost-effectiveness, effectively addressing key challenges in fabric development and earning significant customer recognition. Mr Dong Jianqiang, Chairman of Tian Zhi Hua group, emphasized the exceptional qualities of Lyocell fabrics, particularly its high brightness and tensile strength. He also pointed out that the combination of Lyocell with viscose significantly boosts utilisation rates, making it highly popular with consumers. With advanced automated production techniques, vortex-spun lyocell fabrics are expanding their market presence, demonstrating tremendous potential and building strong customer confidence. Clothes. Bedding. Medical Dressing. These are just some of the many uses of Sateri’s Lyocell, a natural, biodegradable fibre made from sustainably sourced wood pulp. Produced using closed-loop technology, Sateri's lyocell is eco-friendly with 99.7% of the organic solvent being recovered and recycled.   As the first lyocell producer in China to achieve Oeko-Tex® STeP certification, Sateri scored Level 3 across all parameters, which represents exemplary performance of best practices in environmental management, social responsibility, chemical management, and health & safety. Together with Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 certification, our lyocell fibres carry Oeko-Tex’s Made in Green label for social and environmental responsibility, product safety and traceability. Additionally, our fibres complies with the European Union REACH regulations, ensuring both quality and safety. Sateri is building up its lyocell capabilities as a key part of its 2030 sustainable development agenda. Its production process does not contain harsh chemicals, which is in line with the trend of green development. “Because of its green attributes, we expect lyocell adoption to rise in the coming years for a number of reasons, including its wide application potential and affordability,” said Sateri’s Lyocell Marketing Head, Sherry Li. “At Sateri, we are growing our capacity to meet this future demand.”   Sateri currently produces about 250,000 tonnes of lyocell annually, with plans to expand its capacity to 500,000 tonnes per year by 2025. Leading the charge in clean manufacturing, Sateri is proud to announce that five of our six viscose fiber mills have achieved the ‘Aspirational Level’ under the ZDHC (Zero Discharge of Hazardous Chemicals) Manufacturing Framework for Man-Made Cellulosic Fibers (MMCF) guidelines – a testament to our efforts in advancing sustainable practices across our operations. The ‘Aspirational Level’ represents the highest standard of compliance within the framework, requiring the most stringent chemical, wastewater controls and overall environmental performance. ZDHC, which promotes sustainable practices across the textile industry to eliminate hazardous chemicals from textile and footwear production processes, has recently expanded its assessments beyond wastewater management to include air emissions and comprehensive operational reviews. Continuing to make an impact in our communities! Sateri volunteers recently joined forces with Hukou County’s Civil Affairs Bureau and Women’s Federation to accompany left-behind Children from Jiujiang for educational visits. As part of the "Dream Transformation" project, the children explored the Jiujiang City Territorial Space Planning Museum and Jiujiang Water Ecology Science Museum. Launched in 2022, Sateri launched the ‘Dream Transformation’ initiative to fulfil the dreams of left-behind children in the communities around our operations. It began with the creation of "Dream Study Rooms" and has since grown into a broader program aimed at improving the lives of left-behind children and inspiring hope. Our employee volunteers at Sateri Changzhou recently spent “A Colourful Kiddy Summer” with children from the communities around its mill. They hosted a memorable day of creativity and fun, conducting painting workshops that sparked the children’s imagination and creativity.
