I DIDN’T THINK IT WOULD HAPPEN THIS QUICKLY! It’s been 4 years since I got back onto a mountain bike myself. In that time we have ridden many, many trails in different parts of the world, designed and built an Open Source Adaptive MTB at New York University deployed those bikes at different locations around the globe, worked with adaptive sports organisations such as @city of reno adaptive and Challenged Athletes Foundation constructing bikes together with other disabled athletes like ourselves, spoke about this amazing project at conferences held by Autodesk University as well as educate our students about design and disability. Our latest achievement was to build not 1 bike, not 2 bikes, but a fleet of 5 bikes with Cycling Ireland and this weekend we took those bikes out to the Coillte trails Kinnitty Castle Hotel where 6 riders began the journey of establishing the sport of Adaptive MTB in Ireland. There has been so many people involved in this effort. #paraplegic #parasport #paracycling #paralyzed #spinalcordinjury #spinalcordinjuryawareness #disabilitysport #inclusion #mtbriders #mtblifeandadventure #mountainbike #handbiker #handbike #handcycling #disabilitysports #adaptivesports #adaptivefitness #adaptivelife #offroadhandcycle #wheelchair #wheelchair #sportireland #cycleireland #bicycleadventures #photography #mtb Paddy Behan Phil Caridi @ocswish Paul Norton Tarbh Éire Red Roh, Gary Quantrill, are just a few of them. None of it is possible without Robert Ziabek who has been my co-pilot over the last few years, he and his son Filip have been legends. Not to mention Laura Hu who has helped us with the frames!
