In just three short months, the vibrant campus life and the supportive relationships with both teachers and peers have helped them quickly overcome any initial discomforts. What a night to remember! The WASHK school community came together for an unforgettable mixology masterclass, where parents had the opportunity to shake up refreshing cocktails like the Aperol Fizz, White Christmas Mojito, and Old Fashioned Cinnamon Whisky! Under the expert guidance of our talented mixologist, parents discovered the secrets behind crafting these delicious drinks—from perfecting the pour to mastering the garnishes. It was an evening of exploration and enjoyment, with everyone gaining hands-on experience and new skills to impress their friends during the holiday season. The event was further elevated by the gourmet creations of Culiart's master chef, who prepared a stunning selection of dishes that paired flawlessly with our cocktails. From savory bites to decadent treats, each dish was thoughtfully crafted to complement the flavors of the drinks, making for a truly indulgent experience. 【WASCZ | The Xilingshi Scholarship Programme Awaits!】 The WASCZ Xilingshi Scholarship Programme offers a unique opportunity to identify exceptional students across various fields, nurturing and empowering them to become outstanding talents who will make a positive impact on society. We provide a comprehensive platform and full support to help students develop, guiding them to become global citizens with an international perspective and preparing them for a bright future. This scholarship is open to students who will be entering WASCZ in Grade 9 in February 2025 or Grade 10 in September 2025. Through the Xilingshi Scholarship Programme, we aim for each recipient to grow in their respective fields, achieving breakthroughs in their areas of expertise. 【WASCZ | Recognition! International STEM Literacy Education Hub】 WASCZ is thrilled to share that we have been designated as an "International STEM Literacy Education Hub" for our unique and innovative approach to advancing STEM education. Our commitment to supporting students through the esteemed CREST Awards program underscores our dedication to offering students meaningful opportunities to cultivate critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills through real-world projects. At a recent RAISE (Redefining Asian International Schools and Education - RAISE Schools) conference in November, our Head of Faculty of EDT, Mr Armaan Shaikh had the honour of accepting the plaque on behalf of our school and later presenting a session on Enhancing Accessibility of CREST Awards for Students. The presentation highlighted our initiative to ensure that all students, regardless of their starting point, can engage with and benefit from the CREST Awards framework, which has significantly enhanced our students' learning and development in STEM. WAS actively promotes STEM literacy by embedding project-based learning into the curriculum and hosting events such as STEM Days, Science Fairs, and Design & Technology Fairs. These activities align with the CREST Awards criteria and provide students with the tools and platforms to explore their ideas, develop investigations, and showcase their work. For example, younger students begin their journey with guided investigations that help them understand the fundamentals of scientific inquiry. As they progress, students take on more advanced, independent projects, working toward Silver and Gold CREST Awards. Our students' achievements at the CREST Awards reflect their hard work and the support they receive through these initiatives. Many go on to lead STEM clubs and societies or mentor their peers, creating a culture of collaboration and inspiration within the school. This recognition as a STEM Literacy Education Hub is a celebration of these accomplishments and reinforces our mission to prepare students for the future as confident and capable innovators. Being part of this conference was an inspiring experience, allowing us to share our school's journey and learn from other educators committed to advancing STEM education. 【WASCZ | Ninghai Enrichment Camp】 Last month, a group of our Upper School students actively participated in an enriching adventure at the Ninghai Enrichment Camp. They deeply engaged in challenging and exciting activities designed to foster teamwork, resilience, and leadership skills, showcasing their personal growth and development. The week kicked off with an exhilarating arrival after a four-and-a-half-hour journey. Upon reaching the campsite, students participated in team-building activities encouraging collaboration and communication. After settling into their accommodation, the group enjoyed a welcome dinner, and an insightful talk focused on essential survival skills, setting the tone for a week dedicated to personal growth and outdoor learning. As Day 2 dawned, our students demonstrated their resilience by enthusiastically facing the challenges ahead. They dived into camp management, fire-making, and navigation lessons, and even a camping experience under the rain. This experience, filled with character, tested their limits and further developed their resilience, setting the tone for the rest of the camp. The thrill of adventure continued on Day 3, with the group splitting into two. Half of the students embarked on a hiking journey while the others engaged in hands-on survival training. The highlight for many included conquering a high ropes course, which challenged their physical limits while building confidence. The day ended on a high note with an evening campfire filled with songs and laughter, strengthening bonds among classmates. Following a similar structure on Day 4, students enjoyed more hiking or additional survival training activities. The day culminated with the enjoyment of an hour of free time, allowing students to relax and reflect on their accomplishments before the camp concluded, all while having a great time. This Ninghai Enrichment Camp was a resounding success, not only for its adventurous activities but also for its significant contributions to students' holistic development. The personal growth they experienced, from enhanced social and emotional capacities to the development of practical skills, is a testament to the effectiveness of such experiences in fostering resilience, adaptability, and cooperation—skills that will serve them well into their futures. As the trip came to a close, the students returned to school enriched by their experiences, filled with stories of teamwork and triumph. Their resilience and adaptability in the face of challenges were truly inspiring.
