#Iceland has reported an outbreak of #AvianInfluenza in cats via #WAHIS. Three cats (one adult female and two 10 week old kittens) from the same household died after they had been ill for only a few days. The most probable source of infection is wild birds. On January 11th, the #2024Annual_Working_Meeting and #Academic_Seminar of the #Academic_Committee of the National Key Laboratory of Veterinary Public Health Safety was held in Beijing. General Manager Du Yuanzhao of Qingdao Yebio Bioengineering Co., Ltd. and President Sun Qixin of China Agricultural University attended this meeting. The Director of the laboratory reported on the laboratory's annual work from aspects such as the basic situation of the laboratory, scientific and technological innovation work, representative achievements, construction of the scientific research team and talent cultivation, construction of the scientific and technological innovation support platform, popular science academic exchanges, sharing and openness, international exchanges and cooperation, and the work plan for 2025. Representatives of the laboratory's academic backbones gave wonderful reports on four research directions, namely "Transmission of #CRE among Animals, the Environment, and Humans", "Research on the Mechanism of HA Protein Stability in the Cross - host Transmission of Swine Influenza Virus", "Discovery of the Antibacterial Candidate Drug BAB159", and "Creation of Animal Genetic Engineering Subunit Vaccine Products". Experts from the Academic Committee and attending leaders listened to the laboratory's annual work report and important progress reports on research directions, and deeply discussed the laboratory's future development directions and construction plans. They aim to optimize the allocation of innovative resources, enhance the systematic capabilities of the scientific and technological innovation system, achieve breakthroughs in key core technologies, and lead the development of international veterinary public health science and technology.
