Muse launches 2nd gen. S headband that offers non-pharmaceutical sleep support

Neurotechnology and meditation company Muse recently announced the launch of its second-generation Muse S headband for sleep support. This headband is a non-pharmaceutical alternative that uses real-time biofeedback to help you fall asleep and stay there. Should you wake up, the new Muse S now offers “digital sleep pills” to gently fade out its audio and cue your brain that it’s time for sleep.

Muse is a Toronto-based Neurotechnology brand under the Interaxon Inc. umbrella specializing in using Electroencephalography (EEG) technology to support healthy sleep and meditation practices.

The company already has over 500,000 “Musers” around the globe and has delivered over 100 million minutes of meditation sessions using its products.

Muse’s team of neuroscientists, meditation teachers, and engineers has brought two products to market – the Muse 2 meditation headband and the Muse S designed for sleep support.

With its latest announcement, the company has officially launched its second-generation Muse S sleep headband, complete with new features to explore.

Second-generation Muse S sleep headband launches

In a recent press release from Muse, the company announced the official launch of its second-generation Muse S headband, designed specifically for technologically advanced sleep support.

The updated plush headband uses real-time biofeedback from your brain to help you fall asleep and stay asleep. Furthermore, it now has the technology to help you fall back asleep, should you awaken in the middle of the night, and can aid in better meditation practices.

Walter Greenleaf, Chief Science Officer at Interaxon/Muse spoke about how important substantial sleep is to a healthy and fit lifestyle:

For many of us, increasingly busy days translate into busy minds at night and restless sleep. While sleep tracking can be helpful to gain insights on trends and changes in your sleep quality, tracking your sleep doesn’t provide immediate relief when you need it most. According to the CDC, more than a third of American adults are not getting enough sleep on a regular basis with less than seven hours per day. This innovative new solution can help users get the rest they need to improve their overall wellness with a non-pharmaceutical sleep aid.

The Muse S sleep headband works by utilizing what the company calls “Digital Sleep Pills” (DSPs). These DSPs use audio cues to initiate a natural wind-down process, responding to your brain’s rhythms to help you disengage from your busy mind as you lie in bed.

The Muse S then detects the natural changes in your brain activity as you nod off and uses those changes to gently fade out the audio, hinting to your brain that it’s time to sleep.
