Welcome to another episode of Mixtapes!, the video interview series that examines an artist’s tastes via a fishbowl fill with absurd situations. For the latest edition, Squirrel Flower soundtracks stops at Waffle House, recovering from a broken heart, and claiming angel numbers.

Model/Actriz are no strangers to spontaneity. Their charged, high-energy sound often features elements of dissonance — check out their 2023 debut project, Dogsbody, for proof of that. The band is intentionally rough around the edges, which made them a perfect fit to craft a custom playlist for our latest edition of Mixtapes!

Drummer Ruben Radlauer jumped into action to craft a playlist for a variety of situations — the bodega running out of a favorite ingredient (Limp Bizkit’s “Break Stuff”), paying $20 for a beer at a gig (Luke Combs’ “Beer Never Broke My Heart”), and enduring an uncomfortable Uber ride among them (Britney Spears’ “Toxic”). He also shouted out his grandmother, who faked her age to join the French liberation movement (!!) and also happens to make some pretty great homemade cookies. Grandma has the range.
