  • 🐧🛡️ Ready? Let’s go! The world’s first standalone Linux ad blocker is here! The wait is over — AdGuard has officially launched the nightly version of its Linux client. It’s the first system-wide ad blocker designed for Linux. This is our very first version, and we’ll keep making it better, but it can already: 🦾 Block ads on websites and in apps 🦾 Protect you from trackers 🦾 Remove annoyances from web pages 🦾 Warn you about malicious websites 🦾 Support third-party filters and user rules Check out our blog for installation instructions and all the details: https://lnkd.in/dWrkQfCA

  • 🌎 AdGuard v7.20 for Windows: Differential filter updates and post-quantum cryptography Let’s break it down and explain why these new features are game-changers: ☝🏻 Differential filter updates Filters are the backbone of ad blocking. They’re usually quite large, and until now, even small changes in filtering rules required downloading the entire filter again. Is it efficient? Not really. Now only the changes made since the last update will be downloaded automatically. ✌🏻 Post-quantum cryptography When it comes to HTTPS filtering, it’s crucial that AdGuard encrypts your traffic just as well as the app it’s filtering. That’s why we’ve added support for post-quantum cryptography in this version: if the filtered app uses the latest encryption methods, AdGuard will do the same, ensuring that even a quantum computer won’t be able to decrypt your traffic. You can read more about the new version on our website: https://lnkd.in/dEcdwywB

  • 📊 AdGuard tracker report: December 2024. How much is your traffic contaminated? How much of your internet traffic is polluted by trackers? This year-end report dives into global ad tracker trends, revealing alarming growth in tracker activity worldwide: https://lnkd.in/gJWsB3R7 👉 Global stats: Ad trackers make up 7.84% of traffic, up from 7.40% last year. And when you take into account “hidden” trackers, their share skyrockets to 21% 👉 Regional insights: Europe sees rising tracker shares, led by Greece, while Asia shows stark contrasts between tracker-heavy countries like Uzbekistan and tracker-light ones like China. Latin America and Africa follow similar trends of rising tracker activity, with a few exceptions 👉 Trends: Countries with the most trackers, like Uzbekistan, continue to gain, while only a handful, such as Somalia, show consistent declines

  • 👩💻❓ AdGuard's TechTok: DNS filtering and DNS privacy We’re continuing our TechTok series, where we answer your questions about ad blocking, VPNs, and technology in general. We’ve already covered several VPN- and ad blocking-related topics, so today let’s tackle some of your questions about DNS filtering and DNS privacy. In this AdGuard’s TechTok edition, we’ve answered your questions about DNS in detail, such as: “How does DNS filtering work?”, “What do you think of the DNScrypt protocol?” and “Please explain “for dummies” how DNS-over-TLS and DNS-over-HTTPS work”. Hope it helps clear up the mystery surrounding this topic 😉 Great Thursday evening reading awaits you on our blog: https://lnkd.in/dGzU2SJY

  • 🪃 Websites crash, blame ad blockers: a hidden war in the digital world Some websites have taken anti-ad blocking to a new level — blaming ad blockers for their own intentional website failures. Instead of simply asking users to disable their ad blocker, these websites trigger misleading error messages that claim the website is broken due to ad filtering. In reality, ad recovery tools deliberately alter the page layout when they detect an ad blocker, creating a false sense of disruption. This tactic, employed by dozens of websites, tricks users into thinking ad blockers are at fault when, in fact, the website itself is manipulating the page to appear broken. Classic ad block walls at least honestly acknowledge their reliance on ads, but this new approach erodes trust by misleading users. As this trend gains traction, it’s crucial to recognize these deceptive tactics and push back against misinformation in the fight for a cleaner, more transparent web. • 📩 Our new product to protect your email — AdGuard Mail Our inboxes are often so overloaded with spam and promotional emails that we barely notice when new subscriptions start arriving — ones we never signed up for. As a result, we lose important emails amidst the flood of spam and spend hours manually unsubscribing from unwanted mailings. Temp Mail and aliases can solve this problem and bring order to your inbox. Today, we’re excited to introduce AdGuard Mail — our new product that combines these two powerful features! 💌 Temp Mail Need a promo code or want to activate a free trial for a product or service without receiving newsletters on your personal email? Temp Mail — is the best solution. All the necessary emails will go directly to the AdGuard Mail. However, keep in mind that temporary mail is a less secure place to store important messages: you can easily delete an email but it is impossible to recover them. We recommend using it only for one-time interactions. 💌 Aliases Worried about registering on a website and having your email leaked or spammed? Use an alias. An alias acts as a filter, forwarding emails to your chosen address while keeping your personal or work email address private. If an email subscription you signed up for turns into spam, simply disable the alias, and the emails will stop coming. Aliases are better suited for managing subscriptions, while temp mail work best for one-time interactions. In some cases, one will be more convenient; in others, the other. Try AdGuard Mail today and see which feature works best for you. Currently, AdGuard Mail is completely free. You can install it on Mac, Windows, iOS, and Android, or use the web version. This is our first experience with email management tools and we would be very happy to get your feedback — we will keep it in mind while further developing our product! Read more about AdGuard Mail on our blog: https://lnkd.in/dMPjRjUV

  • 👩💻❓ AdGuard's TechTok: where we give answers to the tech questions that bother you A large portion of articles on our blog revolve around various technologies. We try not just to update you on the latest AdGuard releases, but also to keep you in the loop about what is going on in the world of ad blocking and privacy protection. However, this is mostly a one-way communication channel: we do our best to pick topics that you would find worth your attention, but we rarely see any direct feedback. And we'd like that to change. We're introducing ✨TechTok✨ — a new regular Q&A-style column where you can ask us anything tech, and we will select the most popular and the most interesting questions to answer. The preferred topics are ad blocking, privacy protection, VPN- and DNS-related technologies, email hygiene — but really anything that strikes your fancy goes here. Just don't ask us about AdGuard bugs, there's a dedicated support hub for that 🙂 📬 Submit your questions through this online form and perhaps it will get featured in the very first edition of TechTok: https://lnkd.in/dNyxM5Qt https://lnkd.in/dfhwS2NT
