A 𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 is a condition that affects a small percentage of the population. However, collectively, rare diseases impact millions worldwide. 𝟱% 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗼𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 is affected by a rare disease. There are 𝟲,𝟬𝟬𝟬+ 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀, with 𝟳𝟮% 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰, while others result from 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀, 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀, 𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀. Every year on the second Monday of February, we honour International Epilepsy Day, a global initiative dedicated to raising awareness about epilepsy and supporting those affected by this neurological condition.
