  • It’s tradition to dive into icy waters on New Year’s Day—Polar Plunge Day! But at Swan Hellenic, we take it to the next level: plunging into the actual polar seas of Antarctica or the Arctic. For Paula Ballesteros, cast member of @tangodesirecompany, this wasn’t just a plunge; it was a personal triumph achieved just moments before 2025: "My goal for 2024 was to overcome my fears, and that’s exactly what I felt as I left the polar waters—a cold power that renewed me and filled me with energy. The wild magic of Antarctica and the company of adventurous friends made this a once-in-a-lifetime experience I’ll carry forever." Ready to take the plunge? Don’t worry if you missed it today—our polar plunges happen on all polar voyages (weather permitting!). Special thanks to @paulaballesterostango and @alejandroferreyra84 for joining us on this unforgettable journey. #SwanHellenic #SeeWhatOthersDont #Swaneers

  • The polar regions are breathtakingly pristine, but their delicate ecosystems are vulnerable to even the smallest intrusions. Seeds, spores and microorganisms can unknowingly travel with us on our gear, posing a significant threat to native wildlife and plants. At Swan Hellenic, we take biosecurity seriously. Before every landing, we follow strict cleaning protocols to ensure boots, clothing, and gear are free of any potential contaminants. These measures help prevent invasive species from disrupting the natural balance of these fragile environments.

  • Endless ways to spend your day aboard, but here’s one of our absolute favorites: birdwatching! Dive into the world of seabirds with our ornithologists during their fascinating onboard lessons, then step onto the decks for an unforgettable adventure. Together, we’ll spot majestic albatrosses gliding gracefully through their natural habitat. What’s your favorite bird to spot on an expedition? Share your thoughts in the comments—we’d love to know! #SwanHellenic #SeeWhatOthersDont #Swaneers

  • At Swan Hellenic, we are proud to contribute to Citizen Science projects that have a positive impact on the planet as we explore it. We're excited about the continued success of the Leopard Seal Photo ID project, which uses innovative technology to accurately identify individual leopard seals. "This incredible project leverages the latest technology to help scientists understand the distribution and numbers of leopard seals. Onboard, our guests and staff already contribute to the Happy Whale identification project, and with this technology, we’ll now be able to help identify leopard seals too." — Antony Jinman, Corporate Expedition Leader Learn more about this ongoing initiative at https://lnkd.in/d8wRVciR Ph @fancyfactory.it #SwanHellenic #SeeWhatOthersDont #Swaneers #happywhale #leopardsealsnz

  • We’re delighted that SH Diana is now fully repaired, and her Antarctica season is well underway. The breakdown of her propeller shaft happened last month as she made her way from Cape Town to Antarctica, and unfortunately the need for urgent repair meant that after stopping in at South Georgia, we had to make our way immediately to Ushuaia without visiting Antarctica. @TheIndependent ’s Mark Stratton was onboard when all of this happened, and delivers his account in this thoughtful and well-balanced article. https://lnkd.in/d5GQxEbe
