Quantum Computing: The future starts at VSB - Technical University of Ostrava! A unique study focused on quantum informatics is being developed by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at VSB-TUO in collaboration with IT4Innovations! Students will gain ⏩ access to the cutting-edge technology, ⏩ opportunity to explore the fascinating world of quantum computing. ℹ️ The first quantum computer in the Czech Republic will arrive this year at IT4Innovations. ℹ️ The specialisation will be launched with the opening of two new courses – "Quantum Hardware" and "Quantum Computer Programming and Quantum Algorithms". ❝Students will have access to the most advanced quantum infrastructure in Europe, including an installed quantum simulator with NVIDIA accelerators on the Karolina supercomputer and the LUMI-Q consortium's physical quantum computer, which will be commissioned at IT4Innovations later this year. 💡 Current commonly available imaging methods such as MRI and CT provide relatively simple visualisation of results, and it is up to the specialist to evaluate what they see, usually based on black and white images only. It is their expertise that is required to understand the composition of the tissues. ▶️ In the ‘Advanced medical data visualisation with AI support’ project, IT4Innovations and Misterine s.r.o. will use artificial intelligence methods to automatically recognize different tissue structures, such as a bloodstream, healthy organ tissue, a tumor, a mechanically damaged part of an organ, etc. At the same time, visualization tools will be created to present the results in virtual reality for teaching. Developed will be not only visualisation techniques but also haptic control with feedback and manipulation (controllability) of objects in virtual reality. 🔙 What was the supercomputing year 2024 like for us at IT4Innovations? ✅ The Quantum Computing Lab was established. ✅ We’re expecting the first quantum computer in the Czech Republic. ✅ We launched the CUDA quantum simulator, ✅ and two fully operational cloud environments. ✅ We upgraded the Karolina supercomputer. ✅ We had the privilege of welcoming Turing Award laureate Jack Dongarra and the US Government’s Special Envoy for Quantum Technologies, Prineha Narang, to IT4Innovations. ✅ We said goodbye to the Salomon supercomputer. ✅ The CLARA Centre of Excellence is being established.
