Central Europe is the future of the New Silk Road, and METRANS is at the forefront! We were excited to be part of the 8th European Silk Road Summit 2024 in Vienna. Martin Koubek, our Head of Silk Road & CIS and Member of the board of directors CL EUROPORT Sp. z o.o, joined top industry leaders to discuss the evolving role of Central Europe in global trade. 🌍 Robert Groiss, our Business Development Manager, also contributed to the summit by joining a panel discussion on levelling the playing field for rail. As part of the event, we hosted an exclusive terminal tour at our Dunajská Streda HUB, showcasing our 326,000 sqm state-of-the-art intermodal operations. METRANS at DVWG Hafentag 2024 in Hamburg We were a part of the annual conference organized by the German Transportation Science Society - Deutsche Verkehrswissenschaftliche Gesellschaft (DVWG) e.V. in Hamburg. This event focuses on current challenges and perspectives related to the Port of Hamburg, a key hub for European and global transport. 🚆 Experts from the fields of transport, logistics, politics and industry come together at this conference. Representing METRANS was our colleague Florian Fischer, Deputy Head of Rail Operations, responsible for route planning and hinterland transport. At METRANS, we had the honor of hosting the 23rd TAG-RAG Meeting – bringing together the Terminal Advisory Group and the Railway Undertaking Advisory Group. These groups unite railway operators, terminal managers, and port authorities to address key issues in freight rail transport. 🚆🌍 This meeting focused on the Mediterranean Rail Freight Corridor. What were the main topics? ✅ Enhancing cross-border connectivity ✅ The impact of new TEN-T regulations ✅ Planning for major capacity restrictions affecting our corridors (e.g., Ljubljana station) Why does it matter? · Cooperation between infrastructures is key to understanding the full potential of railways. · Railways are the most sustainable mode of transport. · Freight rail transport deserves renewed attention from European and national authorities. · Railways are good. · Railways are the future. We must ensure that railways can fulfil their role and enable the shift from road to rail transport. TAG-RAG serves as a platform for sharing experiences, finding solutions, and planning steps for effective collaboration across rail corridors.
