2024 was another year of strong #growth, both organic and inorganic. Zentiva has signed over 7️⃣5️⃣ agreements to expand our range of high-quality, affordable generics in Cardiology, Oncology, Respiratory, and Allergy. Additionally, we have concluded several acquisitions to complement our portfolio:    Zentiva Italia acquired the only fixed-dose combination of ramipril and piretanide available on the market, helping cardiology patients reduce the number of medications they have to take every day.     To further boost our growth in Consumer Health Care, we are excited to highlight two new additions:  Zentiva Česká republika (CR) and Zentiva Slovakia introduced Blokurima, a dietary supplement.  Zentiva Romania added Revidox, an innovative supplement, and Movial, a dietary supplement, to their lineup.  These additions will further broaden access to essential medicines, helping us fulfill our purpose of providing health and wellbeing for all generations.     A major milestone this year was the completion of the voluntary public purchase offer for Apontis Pharma shares in Germany. We now hold over 8️⃣5️⃣% of Apontis Pharma's share capital and voting rights. With this acquisition, we gain valuable market access and physician promotion capabilities in Germany. Ensuring sustainable health for all: Highlights from Zentiva’s European Health Check Zentiva proudly partnered with POLITICO Live to host the European Health Check, addressing the sustainability and resilience of Europe’s pharmaceutical sector. Did you know that 7️⃣0️⃣% of medicines in Europe are generics, including 9️⃣ out of 1️⃣0️⃣ medicines on the critical medicines list? These essential treatments are the backbone of public health, yet they face mounting challenges. A live poll during the event revealed that 7️⃣7️⃣% of participants do not believe that the current systemic framework applied to the generics industry is sustainable and effectively ensuring the availability and accessibility of medicines for patients across the EU. We would like to thank our panelists—Vanessa Bennett (Lyons), Gloria Ghéquière, Adrian van den Hoven, and Billy Kelleher MEP—for their insights and expertise on these pressing issues.    Key takeaways from the discussion:   🔹 Medicine Shortages: While reporting and mitigation measures are advancing, fragmented stockpiling policies in larger EU nations risk leaving smaller countries vulnerable, ignoring the solidarity principle of the European Union. 🔹 Environmental Regulations: The Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive proposes a volume-based "tax," which may lead to further medicines shortages as production becomes economically unviable for the generics industry. 🔹 A Call for Action: Harmonized, EU-wide collaboration is essential to ensure medicines remain accessible, affordable, and sustainable for all.  Generics are more than cost-effective solutions—they are lifelines for millions. We go beyond our commitment to provide people with high-quality, affordable medicines, and aim to make a positive impact in our communities through our #WeHelpOthers program. 🤲 We offer support through volunteering, donations, fellowships, scholarships, sponsorships, and patient support programs. We encourage our employees to engage with their communities and we support their initiatives with matching funds and additional donations to make a meaningful difference 💚. #InternationalVolunteerDay on Dec 5 was the perfect wrap to our target of 100 initiatives across Zentiva for 2024. Up to now, we have delivered 1️⃣0️⃣4️⃣ community initiatives. Our efforts were diverse and far-reaching; from environmental initiatives like beekeeping or tree planting, to flood relief activities, or projects that support social causes such as orphanages and health programs. We collected clothes and toys, organized employee sports challenges for charity, ran marathons to combat mental health stigma, did solidarity walks to raise food for families, and supported children with back-to-school donations. Our employees collected trash, donated blood, participated in environmental revitalization projects or global campaigns like Pink October, and Movember. Last but not least, we did not turn a blind eye to our colleagues and communities affected by conflicts in Ukraine, and provided financial, material, and moral support and assistance. This week, Medicines for Europe is running a VAM campaign (#ValueAddedMedicines), and we cannot but jump on the wagon to raise awareness, as VAMs are part of our portfolio as well, and we see the future in them. According to European Cancer Organisation, approximately 450,000 men are diagnosed with prostate cancer each year in Europe 🌏, and we certainly take these numbers seriously. Even this #Movember, we promote the awareness month, as the movement is working towards a day where no man dies of prostate cancer. From educational posters, lectures about men’s health, especially testicular and prostate cancer, to planned PSA testing (kudos to our #AnkleshwarSite team), we support the cause and raise awareness. On track for our overall goal of planting 1 million 🌲🌳in 2030, the last piece into the puzzle of our 2024 commitment to get to 100,000 trees this year comes from #ZentivaFrance, turning Black Friday Green! Located in Saint-Martin-Sepert, their reforestation activity converts former agricultural land into a resilient forest, with specific biodiversity protection measures to minimize human impact. 🍁 The red oak was chosen for its adaptability, with a total of 1,879 trees planted and sustainably managed over 1.7 hectares, resulting in: ✅ improved local biodiversity through the creation of a new forest habitat ✅ capture of 559 tons of CO² to combat climate change ✅ socio-economic development of the region, offering new opportunities for sustainable forest management ✨ A big thank you to our partners in France, EcoTree France and our French squad for helping us make a difference! Speaking of partners, it must be said that we couldn’t achieve our tree-planting goals without them, since they are the ones who ensure our investment in biodiversity is sustainable.
