In my experience, I have found that there is a very close link between Organisational Strategy Development and BPM. BPM can be seen as a strategy implementation tool. If Strategy is the What, Why and When, BPM provides the How that is required to achieve the strategic objectives.

Too often their roles and responsibilities are not well defined which lead to sub par performance from these functions. There is also cost pressure which can be mitigated by merging or combining roles or functions. For example Transition and Transition Quality roles can be merged with a single team.

C-Level, VPs, Directors, and Managerial positions in the organization can be named as BPM stakeholders, but there is a difference in interest and power for each one. Additionally, your customer is considered an external BPM stakeholder.

Business Process Owner (BPO) is sometimes referred to as the Global Process Owner (GPO). The BPO owns the process and is accountable for applying good process management to ensure efficient, effective & transparent ways of working. BPOs lead the definition and design of the process to the agreed strategic direction, applies governance for the process, manages relationships with stakeholders, ensures process adherence, makes sure process SOPs are in place, and perform the process maturity review (PMR). The PMR is a tool that allows the BPO/GPO to understand the level of process maturity and what actions are required to improve the process in specific process dimensions and increase the process maturity level.
