Both Germany and the UK recognise hydrogen as a key to achieving clean energy targets and decarbonisation. To accelerate progress, the two countries have entered a bilateral 𝗵𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 focusing on trade, innovation and market development, supported by adelphi on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. How can people and large carnivores effectively coexist? 🐻 10 years ago, the European Commission encouraged several interest groups to come together to establish the 𝗘𝗨 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗟𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀. Since then, the platform has been facilitating dialogue and seeking solutions to conflicts between human interests and large carnivores. adelphi coordinates the Platform‘s secretariat, supporting the exchange between its members. As seen at COP29, access to 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 remains a major challenge for green enterprises in developing countries striving to mitigate and adapt to climate change. High interest rates, collateral demands and perceived risks often block progress. 🌍 Over the past 5 years, adelphi research has worked to address these challenges through projects like the 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗶-𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝘂𝗯𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗮 (https://adelph.it/libic) and the Uganda Green Enterprise Finance Accelerator (#UGEFA). This month marks the conclusion of UGEFA’s, first phase, which has successfully facilitated loans for 102 enterprises – 58% of whom were first-time borrowers – by blending EU grants with commercial bank finance. 🏦 In 2024 alone, adelphi research projects have helped 175+ enterprises secure €2 Million in grants, leveraging €3.45 Million in loans through 8 partner banks. Many companies face significant challenges in implementing climate protection strategies, not only due to external barriers, but also because 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 and 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 do not adequately support the transition. This is the focus of the new research project 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮2𝘈𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, funded by the BMWK. In collaboration with the THM Business School adelphi research is exploring organisational, behavioural and social-psychological barrier and enablers to help companies achieve their Net-Zero goals. #Horizon2020 B-WaterSmart Project, initiated by the European Commission, aims to accelerate the shift towards water-smart economies in Europe’s coastal areas and beyond. These regions face mounting challenges: water scarcity, pollution, high population density and pressure on natural resources. Addressing these issues requires a bold, 𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀-𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 to build 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿-𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 and drive 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. adelphi research played a key role in this four-year project.
