ALD‘s EBuild® 850 is a new player in #AdditiveManufacturing, complementing our leading inert gas atomizers for the production of high-quality spherical #MetalPowders. By combining large-scale powder production with our EBuild® systems, we are further advancing E-PBF (electron beam powder bed fusion) as an economically viable technology for industrial applications. A common challenge in metal powder fabrication is managing rejected powder that doesn’t meet the required size specifications for modern powder bed systems. Without a solution, this rejected powder can end up as waste, contributing to environmental concerns. To address this, #ALD has developed an innovative powder recycling process using additive manufacturing. The EBuild® 850 system can process powders with a broad distribution range, making it ideal for both large-scale part production and #recycling. By utilizing E-PBF to create powder-filled #ingots, the system achieves build rates exceeding 1000 cm³ per hour—setting a new industry benchmark. These ingots can then be converted back into high-quality powder in ALD’s #EIGA systems, helping to promote a sustainable circular economy. In addition, this approach also offers safer, more efficient handling of powder, as the powder-filled ingots are easier to manage and store than loose powder. #PowderMetallurgy has a long tradition with a wide range of applications. However, the current boom around #AdditiveManufacturing has awakened this Sleeping Beauty of #Metallurgy and opened up further interesting applications. Ceramic-free and spherical #powders are of particular interest for #AM. #ALDVacuumTechnology is the market and technology leader for vacuum inert gas atomizers used in the production of high-quality metal powders. In addition, #ALD has extensive experience in combining various melting technologies with inert gas atomization systems to address particular material requirements. Our clients can choose between two main atomizer types, namely #EIGA and #VIGA, for charge weights from 5 kg up to 2500 kg. Customized VIGA and EIGA design variations are available to meet customer specific requirements. Vacuum induction melting and inert gas atomization is the leading process for production of a variety of high-performance metal powders and essential for quality manufacturing of Ni-based super-alloys as well as Fe-, Co-, Cr-based and other special alloy powders. In the VIGA system, a vacuum induction melting unit is integrated with an inert gas atomization unit. The starting materials are melted using electromagnetic induction and is atomized by a high-pressure inert gas jet. The electrode induction melting process with inert gas atomisation was developed and patented by ALD as an alternative, ceramic-free melting and atomization process for the production of high-purity, reactive and refractory metal and precious metal powders. Today, the EIGA process is one of the leading processes for producing of high-quality powders from titanium, zirconium, niobium and tantalum alloys. Auch unsere #ALD #Sicherheitsfachkräfte waren beim diesjährigen #HSE-Meeting der AMG Critical Materials N.V. dabei, dessen Fokus diesmal auf dem Austausch von #Unfallgeschehen und der Erarbeitung von #Unfallpräventionsstrategien lag. Eine Schulung zur #Gefährdungsbeurteilung, gehalten von Holger Schumacher, bekannter #Stuntman und u.a. ehemals tätig für die Action-TV-Serie „Alarm für Cobra 11“, sowie eine #Bergwerksbesichtigung der AMG Graphite Kropfmühl mit einer dazugehörigen Analyse eines Unfallgeschehens rundeten das dreitägige Programm ab. #safetyfirst
AMG Graphite was pleased to host the annual HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) meeting in Kropfmühl, Germany, where safety managers from all German AMG units were invited. The event focused on sharing expertise regarding the current accident status at the German sites, as well as discussing further procedures and identifying prevention strategies. A mine tour provided participants with the opportunity to explore the fascinating 'underground world' and familiarize themselves with on-site conditions. The meeting concluded with an engaging theoretical and practical presentation by 'Riskbuster' Holger Schumacher, who is well-known for his stunt work in films across various countries. At AMG we relentlessly pursue the health of our employees.
