Today we want to look back on a year full of exciting podcasts! 🎙️ In our "AI Talks: Nägele mit Köpfchen" podcast with our Data Musketeer Dr. Johannes Nagele, we were able to welcome the following guests this year: Dr. Maria Eckstein, Ridger Zhou, Philipp Schwartenbeck, Michael Kissner.   But that's not all!  Because our company founder and CEO Alexander Thamm also welcomed a lot of interesting guests in his podcast "Back to the Future of AI" this year and philosophized with them about the most interesting topics around AI and data processing. Last Monday, our CTO team came together in person at our headquarters for our end-of-year workshop. Some of us traveled from across the country to make it happen—thank you for your effort and dedication! 💪   During the workshop, we: ✅ Reviewed the projects we supported this year and their impact. ✅ Highlighted the key tech skills that drove success. ✅ Discussed the emerging technologies we see shaping the future.   It was a great opportunity to reflect on the year’s achievements and align on what’s next. Wieder mal ist es so weit. Heute stelle ich euch erneut eine inspirierende Person aus der IT-Welt der Deutschen Bahn vor. Dieses Mal im Fokus: Dr. Nina Stumme 💻✨ Warum eine Karriere in der IT-Branche? Nach meiner Promotion in Mathematik bin ich zunächst als Softwareentwicklerin eingestiegen und dann relativ schnell zu fachlichen Themen auf der Business-Seite gewechselt. Im Laufe der Zeit habe ich zunehmend Aufgaben übernommen, bei denen im „cleveren“ Einsatz von IT- und Digitalisierung große Hebel lagen. Ein Beispiel war die Qualitätsteuerung der ICE-Flotte durch mehr Transparenz zu optimieren: Wir entwickelten ein IT-System zur automatisierten Ermittlung des Fahrzeugkomponenten-Zustands basierend auf Zug-Diagnosen. Das System übersetzte hochspezialisiertes Expert:innenwissen zu Fahrzeugkomponenten in Ampel-Logik, was eine vorausschauendere und effizientere Vorbereitung von Instandhaltungsarbeiten ermöglichte. 🚂✨ Meine aktuellen Aufgaben bei der DB InfraGO In meiner aktuellen Rolle bei der DB InfraGO, dem Schieneninfrastrukturbetreiber der Deutschen Bahn, habe ich einen zentralen Bereich für Datenmanagement, Analytics und KI aufgebaut. Gemeinsam mit meinem interdisziplinären Team haben wir zahlreiche Aktivitäten zur Stabilisierung und Kapazitätssteigerung der Schieneninfrastruktur initiiert. Ein konkretes Beispiel meiner Arbeit ist der KI-Service „BiGEye“ (Bewuchs im Gleis), der Objekterkennung auf Streckenvideos anwendet, um Vegetation im und am Gleis zu identifizieren und die Planung von Vegetationsmaßnahmen so unterstützt. Dafür haben wir den KI Innovation Award des FAZ Instituts und des KI Bundesverbandes gewonnen. Besonders schätze ich die tägliche Zusammenarbeit mit Kolleg:innen, die aus Leidenschaft für die Bahn arbeiten und in der ich trotz aller Herausforderungen ein starkes Gemeinschaftsgefühl in der Bahn-Familie empfinde. 📈✨ Das DataNet – Unser Daten- und KI-Ökosystem Ich bin besonders stolz auf den Aufbau des DataNet, dem Daten- und KI-Ökosystem der DB InfraGO. Hier stehen Daten für alle Mitarbeitenden bereit und können für die tägliche Arbeit genutzt werden. Ein Beispiel ist „InfraMaps“, das Google Maps der Bahn: Es ermöglicht mit einer 2- und 3-dimensionalen Visualisierung der Schieneninfrastruktur durch Orthofotos, Streckenvideos und Multisensordaten virtuelle Streckenbegehungen und damit die Beantwortung ortsbezogener Fragestellungen einfach und schnell vom Schreibtisch aus. Mein Rat: Erfolgreiche Digitalisierung gelingt durch starke, partnerschaftliche Zusammenarbeit: Bringe die richtigen Expert:innen aus Business und IT zusammen und motiviere sie, gemeinsam, mit ihren jeweiligen Erfahrungen und Kompetenzen am Ziel zu arbeiten.
