This weekend I have participate in the Aviation-Event 2024 SOF, where I have had the pleasure to moderate the panel: “New Horizons: Global Aviation Markets with #AI: Oportunities and Challenges for Airlanes and Airports”. It has been an excellent conversation with Orijana Mašalė Chairwoman of the Lithuanian Civil Aviation Association, Bettina Ganghofer CEO Salzburg Airport - W. A. Mozart, Lorenzo Di Loreto Manager Director Munich Airport International, Adan Morik CEO SeeTrue AI and Martin Tomanov Head Development Bulgaria Air. Today, the global aviation industry is undergoing an unprecedented transformation. Markets are becoming key drivers of growth, fueled by increasing demand for air travel in regions like Asia, Africa, and Latin America. However, this growth comes with significant challenges, such as the need for more efficient infrastructure, resource optimization, and sustainability. This is where artificial intelligence (AI) plays a crucial role. From air traffic management and route optimization to enhancing passenger experience, AI not only offers innovative solutions but also redefines how airlines and airports operate. Yet, as these technologies unlock new opportunities, they also raise questions about implementation, regulation, and acceptance in an industry where safety and reliability are paramount. We have been exploring the new horizons AI is opening in different markets within the global aviation industry, as well as the challenges and opportunities it presents for airlines and airports in this rapidly evolving context. Apart of that I have been talking about #SAF as the repporteur of the #RefuelEUAviation at the #EuropeanParliament and how important it is from January 1st of 2025 that it will be mandatory in EU. 2025 is the key step foward to invest and develop in the production of #SAF but as well in the logistic operation in all the countries where #bookandclaim system it will be crucial. Aviation and more.... The Aviation-Event in Sofia came to a successful end last weekend! To be honest, I was very impressed with the organization of the event by the Aviation-Event and Sofia Airport team. There were several reasons for holding the event in Sofia: 1. the airport is very interested in promoting Sofia as a destination and of course 2. to promote the upcoming expansion of the airport with the aim of becoming a Skytrax 5-star airport. Sofia Airport has undergone a metamorphosis since the start of the concession with Meridiana. Every time I visit, you can see positive changes that enhance the airport. The positive passenger figures - 8 million passengers are already expected this year - are proof of this. The Aviation-Event met with great interest in Sofia, as it was the first of its kind in Bulgaria. For me, the real highlight was once again the many one-to-one meetings with the leaders of the industry. Many current aviation topics were discussed, but apart from the big issues, these personal meetings, which usually result in interesting new stories, are particularly impressive. There were many meetings, but at this point I would like to emphasize the meeting with such a lovely person like Olga Tolstykhina from the Ukrainian WINDROSE airlines - ТОВ Авіаційна компанія "РОЗА ВІТРІВ" . We all have no idea what fate and challenges the war in Ukraine brings to the companies and, above all, the people of the country.
