“When starting out in school, I was always told that A is for an Apple. I could not fathom what an apple was, because I had never seen one until I was 15 years old. This is where the disconnect starts.” Check out our newest blog article where Elie M. Mandela examines the exclusionary effects of prioritising a foreign language in Rwanda's education system, advocating for a wider use of Kinyarwanda. 📚 #LanguageMatters #Rwanda #Education https://lnkd.in/egFwKDa9

Yet another award for our amazing partner BarefootLaw! 🎉
BarefootLaw is the winner of our 2024 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Award. The charity, which will be provided with £50,000 and 500 pro bono hours as part of our Award, works to remove physical and economic barriers to accessing lawyers in Africa using existing digital technology to provide free, accessible and simplified legal information both in person and virtually, empowering people to develop legal solutions for their justice needs. Global Senior Partner Adrian Cartwright comments: "The work BarefootLaw is doing simply cannot be underestimated. To have reached almost 1 million people across East Africa while adapting to specific community needs in countries, as well as continuing to innovate, is a great feat. The organisation's momentum, combined with highly effective use of technology to widen access to their services made it clear to us that Gerard and the team have an incredibly promising future of continued growth ahead." Gerald Abila Founder of BarefootLaw added: “We look forward to working with Clifford Chance on our next phase, to strengthen our legal and marketing capacity, to advance into new jurisdictions, as well as build a strong diverse, and inclusive team." Congrats again BarefootLaw Read more about our Award and the team: https://okt.to/eR3h2v #ProBono #SustainableDevelopment

Yet, most communities have remained the same, and some that appear developed have done so by selling their lands for real estate purposes." In our newest guest blog our partner Tony Joy from Durian Nigeria shares her insights on how to best work with communities to achieve sustainable change. ✨ Check it out here 👇 #Localization #CommunityEmpowerment #SustainableDevelopment https://lnkd.in/ee68Vch7

The results are in! We are excited to announce that a recent study by Villgro Africa revealed that our long-range drone, Simukai, cut mapping time in half, a sizable improvement that could lead to a doubling, and in some cases tripling, of profits. For those of you unfamiliar with the Drones Doing Good Alliance, we’re on a mission to create future-fit jobs by supporting profitable, impactful African businesses. How? We build Alliances that collaborate to impact on three areas: - Affordable drone technology tailored to local needs - Targeted business support to help drone companies scale - An enabling environment through improved regulations This is how we can level the playing field for African entrepreneurs. The Business Booster is an initiative designed to help drone companies grow faster and scale their impact through access to our Simukai drone and business support that includes training, workflow optimization, and access to new clients and opportunities. In Phase 1 of the Business Booster, we partnered with three drone companies in Nairobi, Kenya, working primarily in agriculture. The pilot showed undeniable results: the Business Booster can transform businesses. Phase 1 was made possible by the exceptional support of our Phase 1 Alliance partners: Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, The Lemelson Foundation, Azurit Foundation gGmbH, Villgro Africa, Four Hundred Feet, Kenya Flying Labs and Camzai. Now, we’re establishing an Alliance for Phase 2 of the Business Booster, a two-year initiative to scale our impact and support African drone businesses, creating future-fit jobs, fostering local manufacturing, and driving positive ripple effects across industries. Learn more about the Phase 1 results on our website. I will attach the executive summary in the comments below. A big thank you to our Dream Team. The Alliances we build only work thanks to partnerships like ours Dr. Hans-Peter Thamm, Maggie Flanagan, Cara Nemelka, David Brand, Benjamin Barwa, Daniel Nyutu, Kat James, Kush Gadhia, Mary Kiragu, Lea Buck, Cleopa Otieno, Stefan Engels, Brigid Gachoki, Hazel Wachira.

🌟 Spotlight on D-Prize & Hope Springs Health Foundation Uganda 🌟 Throwback to an impactful collaboration! Through D-Prize, we proudly supported Hope Springs Health Foundation Uganda, a young organization working in Mayuge district in Uganda. In just one year, they've trained 660 girls (ages 12-14) in their Sugar Daddy Awareness Classes, an innovative school-based program aimed at reducing teen pregnancies and HIV transmission. The proven intervention consists of brief trainings raising awareness on the risks of cross-generational relationships. They were founded last year and are already expanding to include menstrual health, domestic violence, and diabetes programs—tackling community healthcare head-on. D-Prize seeds new organizations that scale proven solutions targeting extreme poverty in low and lower-middle income countries. They identified about a dozen existing poverty interventions that are cost-effective but have persistent access gaps and challenge aspiring local founders to design a new organization that can scale-up access to one of the featured interventions. As one of the few organizations offering essential seed funding, D-Prize helps new founders overcome the challenges of securing early-stage funding, empowering ventures to scale and create lasting impact. 👏 Safaa Garelnabi Nick Fusso #SeedFunding #PovertyReduction #YouthEmpowerment

An alle #Stiftungsmenschen #Stiftungen Am Dienstag 22.

We had the pleasure of welcoming Grace Ongong'a from our partner Asembo Skills for Hope to Berlin last week. We had insightful sessions on M&E and communications and were truly inspired by the amazing work you’ve achieved in such a short time, and the impact you’re making for women in Asembo. We’re also very impressed by how you use outcomes data to inform your strategy and operations. A big thank you to Johanna P. from Just Peoples for joining us. It’s always fantastic to meet people who are so aligned. We look forward to collaborating further beyond our shared partnership with Asembo Skills for Hope.
