Have you always wanted to create your own script font? Don‘t know where and how to start? I have an online course for you! ✨ You will learn how to turn your lettering & calligraphy into a font, I will introduce you to the font editor Glyphs, and will walk you through the process of creating your first authentic script typeface! You don’t need to have any previous experience in type design and you don‘t need to bring a project idea or sketches already. I will provide a basic skeleton script, that every student can modify and adapt to their desire. The weekly course starts in September and runs 2 months. More info and registration here: https://lnkd.in/e8kmVA36 #typedesign #scriptfont #makingfonts #glyphsapp #handwriting #calligraphy

Wow, what an overwhelming journey! 3 inspiring days with 30 international speakers, 14 workshops, and over 200 participants from all over the world. Even though we did not have much time to mingle with the crowd, we were overwhelmed seeing the openness and passion amongst all the letter lovers, connecting through letter drawing and making new friends over a chat about brushes. We feel extremely grateful that all the speakers we invited accepted unconditionally to come on our stage and did not just showcase highly polished client’s projects, but shared so many valuable stories and meaningful insights of their work process. Thank you to all of you, who joined our journey and made this event feel like a happy place for letter enthusiasts! You give us a very good reason to pursue this adventure. Plan your trip to Berlin! There are several type-related events happening before and after our festival. One of them is the legendary Berlin Letters Lettering Walk (BLLW): After three days of conference, chances are you’ll fall into a deep black hole the moment the venue closes. Lucky you: Fritz Grögel and Florian Hardwig prepared a Sunday evening lettering walk so that you can hang out with your peers for a little longer and extend the adventure. — registration for the walk by email to: info@fritzgroegel.net (first come, first served!) — number of participants: min. 10, max. 20 — fee: €20, payable at the start of the tour, cash only (sorry) — meeting point is in front of the Silent Green gate on Sunday, July 7, at 6:30pm — duration: approx. 90 minutes — beer on the way: why not, this is Berlin The tour will lead through neighborhoods in Wedding and Gesundbrunnen and end around U8 Pankstraße. Your guides are Florian Hardwig, professional font spotter and managing editor at Fonts in Use, and Fritz Grögel, typographer, teacher and co-author of “Karbid: Berlin — From Lettering to Type Design”. This will be the premiere of a new route specifically created for the Berlin Letters festival. Depending on the audience, it will be held in German and/or English.

In this 6-hour workshop Colombian lettering artist and muralist Ximena Jiménez will show you all the tips and tricks about the amazing world of spray paint from scratch, so you don’t need to be scared of this tool anymore. Attendees will learn about different caps, brands, tools and more importantly try it out and find what works best for you and your style. Ximena will demonstrate different ways, grids and tools to transfer our art from paper or iPad to a large scale wall. How to prepare the wall, what’s important to have in mind before and after painting an exterior or interior mural and finally you’re gonna put your hands to practice and paint your first spray paint letters. Ximena Jiménez began her path in the world of letters in 2014 while she was living in Buenos Aires. There, she had the opportunity to study and learn the rules around lyrics. In 2019 she moved back to Colombia and settled in Bogotá, where she dived into graffiti and street art. This expanded her way of understanding letters and allowed her to deconstruct them, play with them and take them to much larger formats. Today her work is known for it’s powerful and colorful graphic style, loaded with irregular letters, textures and gradients that fuse graffiti and lettering. Always showing deep perceptions which she considers fundamental, with phrases that talk about mental health, self-care and motivation. https://lnkd.in/daDJQwCT #lettering #murals #graffiti #typography #type #letters #ink #spraypaint
