With more than 100 countries following the breathtaking ceremony and concert, the reopening of Notre-Dame catched the attention of million of spectators worldwide. Only in France, an audience of 4 million chose to watch the event, reaching 22% of TV share during the live broadcast of December 7. In Germany, the late evening broadcast on ARD marked an 11% of TV share. Conducted at the time by the composer himself, it will performed today by the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Jukka-Pekka Saraste. Set in the "Basilica di San Paolo fuori le Mura", one of the papal basilicas of Rome, this interpretation of Verdi's Requiem is led by Daniel Harding, new chief conductor of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia Orchestra. Salzburg Festival 2024: Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts Berlioz Canadian maestro Yannick Nézet-Séguin, a regular collaborator of the Vienna Philharmonic since 2010, is making a comeback to the world-famous Salzburg Festival in 2024 to conduct a spectacular performance of Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique. This symphony, composed by a 26-year-old Berlioz who was captivated by actress Harriet Smithson, his future wife, depicts an artist haunted by an all-consuming love that evolves from innocence to horror, including opium-induced dreams and a sinister witches’ sabbath.
