Great insights from Anders Elgemyr on the challenges and opportunities for Ericsson and the broader European tech industry. As the landscape evolves, there's a real chance for European companies to reclaim leadership in key technology sectors. The expertise and capital are there – now it's about seizing the moment. Definitely worth a watch for those following the Swedish market (video in Swedish).
Please, Ericsson, don't miss this train too... Ericsson has missed all the major megatrends since the 1990s when it became the world leader in mobile telephony. Instead, the IT market has been dominated by Amazon, Microsoft, Apple, Nvidia, despite Ericsson having world-leading expertise in these areas. Now Ericsson has a second chance. The entire European technology industry needs to be remodelled to make Europe more independent from the US. This gives Ericsson a lot of opportunities to catch up with a new trend. The knowledge is there, the money is there - but how do you get the will? See the full interview in Direkt Studios with Mattias Vahlne (In Swedish only). Link in comments

𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮 ❄ Last month, our partners and senior management team gathered at Achensee in Tyrol, Austria, for our annual strategy retreat, where we set our strategic goals for the year ahead. Once these had been decided, we took advantage of the stunning winter landscape through various outdoor activities—skiing, snowshoe hiking, and sledging. The retreat, uniting colleagues from 12 offices across North America and Europe, was an inspiring example of the collaborative spirit that makes Carlsquare a special place to work. A big thank you to everyone who joined and made it such a memorable event! Special thanks to Hotel Entners am See for once again providing the perfect setting in which to recharge and connect. Looking ahead, this year at Carlsquare is all about MITEINANDER. What’s your key word for 2025?

Last week, our Frankfurt-based colleagues Sascha Overkamp and Kai Willem Calli took part in the annual pitch competition of the Skyline Investment Club e.V. at Goethe-Universität Frankfurt. Together with four other M&A professionals, they participated as members of the jury. In the pitch competition, the students presented 10 interesting stock-listed companies from the Industrial Technology and Consumer sectors, which were proposed as investment opportunities to the jury. Finally, one student in each of the two sector groups was awarded with a tombstone - just like in the real M&A world - for securing the best deal. Thanks to Skyline Investment Club e.V. for the invitation. We enjoyed your pitches as much as the networking and drinks that followed the presentations and discussions.
