🌍✈ 💡 𝐀 𝐌𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: The fruitful 𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐎𝐒𝐒𝐔𝐒 𝐌𝟐𝟐 meeting 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐟𝐭 From November 19th to 21st, 2024, the COLOSSUS consortium gathered at the iconic Aerospace Faculty of Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands for a highly productive M22 workshop meeting. 💡 🔹 Key Highlights: 35 researchers and professionals from 14 organizations across 7 EU countries collaborated on future milestones and dissemination strategies. Engaging presentations, interactive workshops, and forward-looking discussions over 3 intense days. Networking dinners in the heart of Delft, fostering connections and team spirit. 🔹 WP1: The meeting began with a warm welcome from Lourenco Tércio Lima Pereira from TU Delft and an overview of the project’s current status from the project coordinator Prajwal Shivaprakasha, sharing milestones, and deliverables, ensuring alignment among consortium members. 🔹 WP2: Kristian Amadori and Ludvig Knöös Franzén focused the discussion on harmonizing methodologies for value functions and business models, aiming for a cohesive framework linking simulations, design, and analysis. Manuela Ruocco presented the dashboard’s current status and gathered feedback for next release. 🔹 WP3: Giuseppa (Pina) Donelli, Jasamin Akbari, Luca Boggero, Nazlıcan Çığal, explored requirements for surrogate models and workflows integrating multiple disciplines for ADAM and EVE use cases. The team dedicated discussions to connecting the COLOSSUS workflow with the ADORE toolkit to streamline operations. 🔹 WP4: Fabrizio Nicolosi, Michele Tuccillo, Lourenco Tércio Lima Pereira, and Sen Wang presented strategies for the second design loop, covering advanced configurations for seaplanes and aerial mobility vehicles. The team has been focused on integrating refined models and optimization strategies for innovative vehicle concepts. 🔹 WP5: Nabih Naeem, Nazlıcan Çığal, Nikolaos Kalliatakis, and Thierry Lefebvre demonstrated progress on the toolkit for ADAM and EVE System-of-Systems simulations. 🔹 WP6: Jan Vos provided the update on the communication and dissemination activities, and discussed exploitation strategies that will be implemented in the last year of the project. This was supported by Nikolaos who presented the COLOSSUS Grand Challenge that will start in February 2025. Jan and Manuela shared the website and social media updates. COLOSSUS Use Cases – 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐦𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 (𝐀𝐃𝐀𝐌) & 𝐀𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 (𝐄𝐕𝐄) The main objective of the use cases in COLOSSUS is to support the development, evaluation and demonstration of advanced SoS capabilities in aviation research. They shall ensure that complex, multi-level SoS can be set up, analysed and evaluated in a collaborative, integrated and efficient manner. Use case 𝐀𝐃𝐀𝐌: Creating a business model for novel aircraft concepts (eVTOL and sea plane) with a focus on sustainable intermodal mobility and evaluating the concept for performance, competitiveness, environmental impact and life cycle footprint. The use case includes the integration of the new modes with the existing modes of transport for a complete intermodal evaluation. Use case 𝐄𝐕𝐄: Developing an integrated fast-response approach using novel aircraft concepts for fighting wildfires combining latest developments in the fields of aircraft design, fleeting, AI and operational Tactics. Successful 𝐂𝐎𝐋𝐎𝐒𝐒𝐔𝐒 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐮𝐦'𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 🌍✈ The Colossus consortium had a great opportunity to meet hosted by INCAS - National Institute for #Aerospace Research "Elie Carafoli" Claudia Dobre, Alina Chira and Catalin Nae at Bucharest Romania for progress meeting "COLOSSUS is a European initiative addressing #system-of-systems challenges, focusing on aerial wildfire fighting and #sustainable intermodal mobility—crucial present and future challenges for the EU. For the Month 16 Progress meeting, Over the span of 3 days, 35 members from 14 organizations across 7 EU countries came together. The meeting featured 25 presentations, 39 hours of discussion, 3 dinners, 1 Romanian Parliament tour, 1 Old city tour, countless coffees to survive many questions and lively debates (it's research!), and even 2 collaborative dances during the dinners 😉" Prajwal Shivaprakasha The meeting focused on project updates and demonstrating the developed capabilities and methodologies of all the work packages: 🔹 WP 1 - Nabih Naeem shared the status, upcoming deadlines, upcoming milestones, dissemination activities and project risks consolidated from COLOSSUS partners. 🔹 WP 2 – Kristian Amadori provided the updates on the scenarios and business models of the use cases ADAM Sustainable Intermodal Mobility) and EVE (Aerial Wildfire Fighting), Manuela Ruocco presented updates on the interactive dashboard. 🔹 WP 3 –Giuseppa (Pina) Donelli, Jasamin Akbari, Adrian Chojnacki, Jasper Bussemaker demonstrated the approach and prototype of the COLOSSUS Transformative Collaborative Digital Framework, integrating multiple models of ADAM and EVE use cases. 🔹 WP 4 –Fabrizio Nicolosi, Michele Tuccillo, Lourenco Tércio Lima Pereira, and Sen Wang provided updated results of advanced air mobility vehicle and seaplane concepts. Ton van der Laan demonstrated an Idea for a qualitative tool for manufacturing and assembly effects due to material and design choices, Marco Fioriti shared preliminary methods for cost aspects for vehicle and System of Systems 🔹 WP 5 –Ludvig Knöös Franzén, Nabih Naeem, Nazlıcan Çığal, Nikolaos Kalliatakis and Thierry Lefebvre demonstrated the first results of Agent Based Simulations(ABS) for both ADAM and EVE with integration of system level perspective and aircraft design performance parameters into System of Systems level ABS. 🔹 WP 6 – Jan Vos provided the update on dissemination and discussed on exploitation strategies for COLOSSUS including upcoming conferences and COLOSSUS global wildfire grand challenge.
