📢 New Insights on EU Comparative Advantage! Excited to share the latest research by Filippo di Mauro, Marco Matani, and Gianmarco Ottaviano: "Reassessing EU Comparative Advantage: The Role of Technology." Using the sufficient statistics approach by Huang and Ottaviano (2024), the study provides a groundbreaking method to empirically assess the state of technology in European industries. The findings highlight the limitations of standard revealed comparative advantage measures, showing how factors like market size, firm selection, and markups influence a country’s technological edge. A must-read for anyone exploring international trade, technology, and economic competitiveness! 🌍📊 #Economics #Trade #Technology #EU #Research #compnet #TSI #MDI #Microdata

Thrilled to see WIPO's Global Innovation Index 2024 featured in this week’s The Economist. Full article available here: https://lnkd.in/gmbeRze2 This year’s theme of the GII, “𝐔𝐧𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩,” is particularly meaningful to me, as it takes me back to my early days at Enactus - first as a student volunteer and later as President of Enactus SRCC. Over my three years at Enactus, I witnessed firsthand the transformative power of social enterprises to drive both innovation and meaningful impact. If you’re curious about how innovation policy can unlock the vast potential of social entrepreneurship, please take a look at the GII 2024 special theme chapter, co-authored with Marya Hill-Popper Besharov, Kevin Miner and Sacha Wunsch-Vincent. https://lnkd.in/gp5n-8mR #GlobalInnovationIndex #SocialEntrepreneurship #GII2024
