☀️ #CWSHygiene harnesses the power of the sun. In April 2023, we installed a photovoltaic system in Čakovec to convert the large laundry site to renewable energy. This is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by around 305 tonnes per year and is a crucial step in establishing solar power at one of the region's most important sites. We have already been able to reduce electricity consumption per tonne washed by around 8%. 🔋 In addition to the photovoltaic system in Croatia, we have installed many other PV systems at various sites that will help us achieve our self-imposed target of reducing emissions by 50% by 2030. #Sustainability #SolarPower #RenewableEnergy

🇦🇹 Country Deep Dive Austria: At CWS Hygiene Österreich, we’re making significant progress towards sustainability, focusing on renewable energy and reducing our carbon footprint across the country. 🔋 Focus on renewable energy in Vienna Our Austrian headquarters in Vienna aims to no longer emit any climate-damaging gases by 2025 – and we're well on our way. In 2023, we installed photovoltaic systems, reducing carbon emissions by 30.7 tonnes and generating 21 MWh of green electricity. Switching from gas to district heating further cut emissions by 56.5%. ♻️ ☀️ Solar power in Čakovec In April 2023, we installed a 375,000 kWh photovoltaic system at our Čakovec laundry, which serves customers in Austria and Central Eastern Europe. This switch to solar energy is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 305 tonnes per year and has already reduced electricity consumption per tonne washed by 8%. 🌍 #Sustainability #RenewableEnergy #SolarPower #CWSHygiene

🎗International Day of the Girl: Empowering Young Women🎗 At #CWSHygiene, we believe in supporting menstrual equity for all. In 2023, we installed our first period product dispensers in public washrooms as part of our social responsibility efforts. This supports girls and women who can’t afford menstrual products. We encourage customers to help us combat menstrual poverty by providing pads and tampons for free. As we believe menstrual hygiene products should be as freely available in public washrooms as toilet paper and soap. With our combined efforts we are helping young women and can ensure that no girl misses school because of a lack of menstrual products. 💪 #InternationalDayOfTheGirl #MenstrualEquity #PeriodPoverty #Responsibility

🧭 At #CWSHygiene, sustainability guides everything we do and we have set ourselves ambitious goals. For example, we aim to reduce our carbon emissions by 50% by 2030, using 2021 as the base year. The measures we are taking to achieve our sustainability targets cover all aspects of our value chain and material cycles. Our circular business model starts with taking care of what we put into the cycle and ensuring that our products have as little negative impact on people and the environment as possible. 🧻Our toilet paper and paper towels carry the FSC and/or EU Ecolabel, which guarantees that the paper comes from responsible sources and ensures that it fulfils strict environmental criteria. 🧼 All the soaps we use are 100% microplastic-free, pH-neutral, dermatologically tested and biodegradable in accordance with EU Ecolabel standards. 🧴Our goal is to use bottles made from 100% recycled plastic, which is why we switch all 500 ml bottles to recycled material this year. Annually this is expected to reduce the amount of virgin plastic needed by more than 160 tonnes. 📦 All our consumables are packed in 100% recyclable cardboard boxes. Want to know more?
