Amazon has placed its largest-ever order of more than 200 battery-electric heavy goods vehicles – and has selected our flagship Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 from Mercedes-Benz Trucks. 🚛🔋 The #ElectricTrucks will be deployed across high-mileage routes that make up Amazon’s middle-mile network, transporting cargo containers to and from Amazon’s fulfilment centres, sort centres and delivery stations. With more than 140 trucks to be used in the UK and more than 50 in Germany, the #ZeroEmission vehicles are expected to transport more than 350 million packages with zero-exhaust emissions. The order is preceded by the practical testing of a near-series prototype of our #eActros600 in one of Amazon's logistics centers in Germany. Thomas Built Buses launches the second-generation Saf-T-Liner C2 Jouley battery-electric school bus. 🎉🚌 Originally introduced in 2017, the #Jouley is our brand’s flagship electric bus. More than 1.000 Jouley buses have been delivered to North American customers so far. The second generation comes with a new generation #eAxle and a new versatile wheelbase option. 🔋🚌 Production of the second-generation Saf-T-Liner C2 Jouley with the 219-inch (5,56 m) wheelbase at the #ThomasBuiltBuses Manufacturing Plant in High Point, has already begun. Baby it's cold outside - but not too cold for an eCanter to operate in the North of Finland: At freezing point and well below - in icy temperatures, a FUSO eCanter of the latest generation now proves its reliability under difficult conditions. Near the Arctic Circle, Schenker AG uses the purely battery-powered 7.5-ton truck for last-mile deliveries. There, in the extreme north-east of Finland, where the first snow often falls in October and then stays until the end of April. Where temperatures of up to minus 30 degrees Celsius have already been recorded on the thermometer this winter. This is exactly where DB Schenker has been using a FUSO Next Generation eCanter 7.49 T for city deliveries since mid-January this year. Seriously? “Yes, I really wanted us to try it out here in Kuusamo and refute this prejudice that you can’t do anything with an electric truck in such weather,” affirms Raino Mourujärvi, who originally comes from the region himself and with the subtly tougher conditions is quite familiar. A trip down memory lane: Our #Unimog UX 100, model series 409 with snow plough and silo spreader in winter road maintenance. 🚚⭐️ Did you know? The 409 series was in production from 1996-1998, with a total of 790 units in 2 model variants. The small, compact implement carrier featured various technical innovations such as the Vario-Pilot transferable steering. Following a decision to concentrate on the core business with the heavy-duty Unimog model series, the vehicle and the production facilities were ceded to the Hako group in 1998 and continued to be produced under the name Kommobil until the end of 2002. #DaimlerTruck #Throwback | Mercedes-Benz Unimog
