Businesses must adapt, and the new European Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) is a key driver of this change. Transparency in sustainability is no longer optional. It’s essential. But CSRD goes beyond numbers and promises; it challenges us to meaningfully contribute to a more sustainable future.   𝗦𝗼, 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘄𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀? For our industry, the core of most of our sustainable impact isn’t found in the day-to-day operations but in the projects we deliver. Reporting on these efforts can be complex, which is why collaboration is critical.   To address these challenges, we’ve joined forces with industry peers including RPS, Iv, Witteveen+Bos and Oosterhoff. Together, we’re pooling our expertise to refine how we measure impact, set achievable goals, and integrate sustainability into our operations and strategies.   By sharing knowledge and comparing approaches, we’re not just meeting reporting requirements. We’re learning, growing, and driving greater impact across the engineering industry. This collaboration underscores the power of collective effort in embedding sustainability into the heart of our organizations.

𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗰𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁! 🆕 The Demcon Group is now officially established in Germany as Demcon Germany GmbH. With this renaming from Demcon systec industrial systems GmbH to Demcon Germany GmbH we aim to make the engineering expertise from the Netherlands more visible in Germany. The name change strengthens the identity of the Dutch business group and supports the internationalization of its subsidiaries. The location in Münster, just an hour's drive from Enschede, is ideal for current scientific topics in Smart Industry, High-Tech Systems, Life Sciences & Health and Optics. Benedikt Höing, managing director of Demcon Germany: ‘I am very pleased with the fact that we are now officially called Demcon Germany. We hope to increase our market positioning in Germany in the coming years and work on our brand awareness. With our team in Germany and with the help of colleagues from Enschede, we are going to make great strides in this in 2025 and beyond. Thirty-one years ago, Dennis Schipper and Peter Rutgers took a bold step, transforming their passion for technology into reality by founding Demcon in a small room at the University of Twente. With just this small team, they laid the foundation for the company we are proud to be today.   Starting from scratch wasn’t easy, and we know firsthand the challenges that come with taking the leap into entrepreneurship. In our industry, breaking through as a start-up or spin-off demands perseverance, resilience, and vision.   That's why we want to do more than reflect on our own story. We hope to inspire others to follow their passions and take that leap. Our journey is proof that it 𝒊𝒔 possible to grow from a small start-up to a thriving mature company. This week, our colleague Marnix Zoutenbier had the honor of delivering the keynote at the ‘Heidag’ of the Saxion University of Applied Sciences LED department (Life Science, Engineering & Design), attended by about 150 staff members. For an hour, he shared insights on the practical application of AI, focusing on algorithm development and synthetic data. One compelling example was the development of algorithms for detecting malignant lung nodules using synthetic images generated from existing data. In the second half of his keynote, Marnix engaged the audience with thought-provoking discussions around two challenging statements: 👉 The lack of reasoning skills makes AI, and particularly Large Language Models, more of a hype than a disruptive force. 👉 ChatGPT and future, more advanced AI represent the end of creativity, intrinsic motivation, and learning. A special thank you to Lotte van der Most - Gilbers, Emmy Ophuis - Soer, and Stephan Maathuis for organizing this inspiring session. Despite traveling from the Brainport Region, the De Grolsch Veste in Enschede always feels like home!
