⚡ To react to seismic changes in the energy market, the EU passed a large reform of the Electricity Market Design (EMD). 🌍 Some elements are already in force. Others will be put into law by all 27 member states over the next 2 years. ⏳ The reform brings wide-ranging repercussions for the management and analytics of energy market data. Our colleague Markus Weber breaks these repercussions down into the top 16 digital challenges. 🍂 Just like for squirrels 🐿️, for us at DEVnet, autumn is preparation time. Rather than storing nuts for frosty days, we make provisions for Winter DEVcon, our company-wide gathering in Munich. For the past five years it has included a two-hour workshop in #EmpathicCollaboration. Now, we are setting up the next one. 🎉 🦒 The workshop is based on the principles of #NonviolentCommunication (NVC), an approach developed by the US psychologist and mediator Marshall Rosenberg. It facilitates understanding each other’s needs to communicate better. The approach is used by professionals from UN mediators to Microsoft’s board of directors – and us at DEVnet. Our employees learn ✨ NVC basics in their onboarding and in a two-day course with certified external trainers. For those who want to go further, we offer a ✨ bi-weekly practice group as well as ✨ our annual DEVcon workshops. 🔎To choose a topic, we ask around among colleagues, review issues from our practice groups and analyse situations in our daily lives. The guiding question is: What kind of information would best support our colleagues in their work? ❇️ One of the potential topics is “Empathic Listening.” This method is especially important for us as consultants, as it helps us connect to our clients and understand their needs. By empathically listening to their verbal and non-verbal communication, we can make educated guesses of their needs and intentions and explicitly ask if addressing such needs could be helpful. ✅ The workshop will then be based on our “P-I-T-T approach” with its 4 stages: 1️⃣ a PITCH to raise the participants’ interest, for example a roleplay reenacting a typical conflict🎭 2️⃣ INFORMATION, for example an introduction to “Empathic Listening” 🔑 3️⃣ TRAINING exercises, for example developing constructive reactions to reproaches in daily life 🔄 4️⃣ TRANSFER options, for example a list of trigger words, like “But”, “Never” or “Always”, to avoid 📝 To set up all these elements, we will soon be gathering background details on our chosen topic and prepare slides 📊, practice material, handouts and exercises 🤸. Then, we will be looking forward to another fun DEVcon, with its hopefully fruitful PITT stop. 🚀 #EmpathyInAction

🔹 DEVnet meets Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall 🔹 Last month we welcomed 12 colleagues from the data analytics team of Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall for a 2.5-day workshop at our Munich office. The idea💡for the workshop had arisen at our joint project in Schwäbisch Hall. Our colleague Olga had asked her project team whether they would be interested in exchanging knowhow and experiences with us in Munich. The plan gradually matured, when we jointly set an agenda and a date, and enthusiasm rose on all sides. 🤩 During the workshop in Munich, we held deep dives on three topics of data analytics that are of particular importance in our joint work: ▶️ Data Mesh ▶️ Data Vault 2.0 ▶️ Data Science   In addition, we organised three broader study groups on business technology, digital change and enterprise architecture. Overall, lecture-style presentations were supplemented by Q&A sessions, discussion rounds and practical exchanges on tips & tricks as well as dos and don'ts. So, a lot of interaction was possible, which also helped us to personally get to know each other better. There was also no shortage of fun: between the sessions, we snacked and laughed together, and in the evenings, we dined at Augustiner beer garden 🥨 and at an Italian restaurant 🍝 to round off the days in a relaxed atmosphere. We would like to thank Nebojsa Bojovic and Markus Kaufmann for their joyful and focused planning, organisation and running of the event! And of course, a similar thank you to all the other participants who made these days such a wonderful experience. 🔹Ab Initio Customer Connect 2024🔹 On Monday and Tuesday this week (📅23rd and 24th September) our colleagues Andreas Stecker and Ann-Christin Tiemann were invited from Ab Initio Software to the Customer Connect event in Frankfurt. The event took place in the magnificent Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof and attracted around 150 participants, including customers and partners of Ab Initio. Anthony Ibrahim, director of Ab Initio DACH, kicked off the two-day event, followed by ten interesting and entertaining talks.🎤 Most of these were delivered by Ab Initio colleagues, with customers also sharing insights into their experiences. A standout presentation for our team was by Stephan Richter, Tech Lead at DKB | Deutsche Kreditbank AG in collaboration with Volkmar Kuhn, Consultant at Ab Initio, on the  topic “From monolithic to modular - (cloud) transformation of data processing at DKB”. Their insights into the project’s challenges and solutions were truly impressive. 👀 Another highlight from our perspective was the talk by Andreas Becks Strategic advisor at Ab Initio, titled “Trustworthy AI: Guardrails for trust”. He skillfully simplified a very complex topic, making the essential aspects clear and tangible.  All talks throughout the event were consistently interesting, providing exciting insights into various market trends. The program also included round table discussions, test drives and science fairs. The evening program on Monday was another highlight: a boat trip featuring dinner on the “Wappen von Frankfurt”. 🛥 Participants enjoyed the stunning views of the Frankfurt skyline, delicious food, and lively conversations, rounding off the first day beautifully. 🌇 We are proud to be partner of Ab Initio, part of this community and look forward to the next well-organized event! 💙 #AbInitioCustomerConnect #DataManagement #TrustworthyAI

Max joined DEVnet this month as Regional Sales Manager and will support taking care of our clients and partners in Center Germany. At DEVnet our sales colleagues are divided with a dedicated contact person for the regions: north, center and south of Germany. 📍 Therefore Max will complement our existing regional sales team. Before joining DEVnet, Max worked as a consultant on numerous IT and strategy projects, supporting clients across different fields, including IT transformation, data analysis, sales strategy, and mergers. Over the years, Max developed a passion for sales, which he is now eager to focus on at DEVnet. In his free time, he dedicates himself to personal finance and the financial markets, which is why he usually knows about the best brokerage offers, the latest macroeconomic developments, and a few intriguing stock picks, that might or might not pan out. 😉 At this point we would like to take the opportunity to speak out a warm welcome to the DEVnet family. Hard to believe it's already been a week since the WeAreDevelopers World Congress in Berlin! Those three incredible days our colleagues Khach Gejagezyan and Sascha von Brevern spent there went by in the blink of an eye. From the pre-check-in events with stunning views of Berlin to the main conference days, every moment was enriching and inspiring. 🌟 The conference offered such a great opportunity to learn about the latest technological developments in IT. 📈 Hearing from so many talented individuals was a great chance to expand our knowledge and fuel motivation. 🚀 Sascha and Khach said, they definitely missed something like a Time-Turner ⏳ (as Hermione had in Harry Potter) to attend multiple talks scheduled simultaneously! Nonetheless, their packed schedule allowed them to attend many truly remarkable sessions. Twice a year, the DEVnet team gathers to connect, learn, and celebrate together. This time, we had the pleasure of hosting our event in the beautiful city of Munich! 💡 As always, knowledge sharing, and business updates were key components of our agenda. It's inspiring to see the wealth of information and innovative ideas exchanged during these sessions. 🚶♂️🚶♀️ 🚌 Following this, we embarked on captivating walking tours or a hop on hop off bus tour, giving everyone a chance to explore Munich's rich history and vibrant culture. It was a fantastic way to bond and get to know new joiners better. ⚽ As an additional highlight, we watched the quarterfinal game of UEFA EURO 2024: Germany vs. Spain. Although Germany's loss saddened us, it didn't dampen the spirit of our event. 🍽️🍹 The ultimate highlight? Our evening dinner! Outstanding location, delicious food, fancy drinks, and a relaxed atmosphere created the perfect setting for meaningful conversations and strengthening team bonds. 🔍Our customers increasingly put AI at the centre of their #digitalisation efforts. But in our experience, 75% of these AI initiatives struggle for one reason: They fail to properly integrate AI applications into their business value chains at the right point in time. Many companies explore AI applications within single departments as an extension of their existing capabilities. If left to grow without high quality integration into the existing structures, these disparate AI activities lead to a fractured business.  🔹 It was Ab Initio Community Connect time again 🔹 Our colleagues Thomas Worofsky and Olga Zhuravleva were recently in the Southern German city of Neckarsulm 📍 for Ab Initio Community Connect, the regular gathering of our partner Ab Initio Software. Ab Initio offers its customers a platform to deal with challenges in data processing and data management. The event was held at the smart premises of Schwarz IT, the IT service provider of Schwarz Gruppe, Europe’s largest retailer operating chains such as Lidl and Kaufland. It was a great opportunity not only to meet Ab Initio experts from the DACH region and other partners of Ab Initio and Schwarz IT.🤗 We also got to listen to presentations such as „Breaking Barrieres – Self Service BI@SIT“ and „Unleashing Efficiency in Data Governance through Automation: Smart Data Catalog Loading Processes and an Introduction to the Data Validation Framework“. 💡 Finally, we greatly enjoyed the exchange with the esteemed experts Franziska Doeker, Marc Koch, Konrad Lampe, Anthony Ibrahim and Jens Kallmeyer.
