Today's #ThrowbackThursday takes us to Darkhan in Kazakhstan, more than 6000 kilometers away from Amorbach. Here we were able to realize a major project in 2020 and install two turbines with pitchable guide vanes and a runner with fixed blades. The two turbines have a capacity of 2.1 MW. Each one! Can you imagine how much clean energy this will produce? We are grateful for the funding from Deutsche Energie-Agentur GmbH (dena) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz as part of the RES program. It's a great opportunity to demonstrate German innovative energy solutions, especially the performance and quality standards. #hydropower #renewableenergy

It's #ThrowbackThursday! Today we are looking at a special feature of a past project in Sere, France. This #DIVETurbine with an output of 138 kW is equipped with a pressure chamber. The generator is completely under water so that it is completely flood-proof and does not require any cooling system, which in turn makes it less cost-intensive. Thanks to its compact pressure chamber and only one interface to the building, the turbine can be installed within a day, making it ready for use very quickly. #DIVETurbine #hydropower

Today we have a perfect example of the #fishfriendliness of our #DIVETurbine: a ThrowbackThursday from Grépiac, France. After 56 years in operation, the power plant was no longer generating its rated output and was completely refurbished in 2016. The existing turbine chambers were closed and two new turbine chambers were installed on the shore side and equipped with two DIVE-turbines with 560 kW each. In order to improve the power plant ecologically, the following was added: - Construction of a fish pass with 17 chambers, equipped to be particularly eel-friendly - Construction of a fine rake in front of the turbine chambers with descent openings for fish that do not descend via the weir or the fish ladder - Reactivation of a kayak lock on the opposite bank And if a fish does get through the turbine chamber, which is very unlikely thanks to the power plant architecture, the risk of collision for fish swimming through is reduced to almost zero. This is due to the fish-friendly design of the turbine. The fixed blades have no gap between the scar and the blade where a fish could become trapped and the gap to the runner casing is also less than 2 mm. #fishfriendly #fishfriendlyhydropower #hydropower

Bright blue sky and two pink DIVE-Turbines - what a beautiful combination! The Munilque power plant in Chile was a major project that was completed in 2015. #tbt The power plant was built to harness the power of water of an irrigation canal and supply the local community with green electricity. The two DIVE-Turbines have a combined power output of 1.08MW and have been in operation for almost ten years. This project is a great example of how hydropower technology can be used to generate clean, renewable energy for a community with minimal impact. It also highlights the commitment of the project developers to promote green energy solutions. And, if you ask the engineers, they will tell you, the turbine's runner diameter of 2.25m is not just big, it's HUGE! #DIVETurbine #renewableenergy #hydropower

On this #ThrowbackThursday there is another project that we have realized together with HELISA and GREEN POWER DESIGN. In 2015, we were able to install an additional 420kW #DIVETurbine in a historic power plant from 1918 in Las Rives. It is our first single-regulated DIVETurbine, as the plant operates at a constant flow rate most of the time. The turbine has pitch-able guide vanes and a fixed, grid-synchronous speed of 250 rpm. With a generator efficiency of > 97% and a turbine efficiency of > 90% the complete unit of Turbine-Generator-Unit has a global efficiency of > 87%! Another interesting detail of this project: A study on fish migration at this power plant in Las Rives showed that the downstream efficiency for eels was 100% thank to the fine screen with diverting flow structure at the intake of the power plant. #fishfriendly #hydropower #DIVETurbine

Crystal-clear water, the Alps in the background and peaceful tranquillity - these elements perfectly describe the Weissachwerk on Lake Tegernsee. On today's #ThrowbackThursday, we take you to one of our oldest projects from 2011. The almost 130-year-old structure has been modernized with a #DIVETurbine which generates an impressive 180 kW of power and is barely noticeable to the eye from the outside. If you take a look inside the structure, you can catch a glimpse of the #DIVETurbine through a showcase window and witness the flood safety with your own eyes. You can also experience the minimal noise and vibrations thanks to the unique design and how the turbine fits seamlessly into the historic structure. #hydropower #smallhydro #DIVETurbine

Now circulating on Swedish breakfast tables: The newest issue of Ny Teknik with our project in Åby. Earlier this year, Statkraft modernized the power plant in Åby on the Lagan River, using innovative technology from Amorbach, Germany. Our #DIVETurbine is the best solution to replace old Francis Camelback turbines without having high costs for civil works. The two DIVE-Turbines generate clean energy even at low water flow thanks to their unique speed regulation. The most ground-breaking feature? The generator is submerged underwater in a diving bell, which allows for a compact bearing arrangement and a wear free shaft seal. The construction is so durable that the unit is practically maintenance-free for up to 25 years. DIVE Turbines' bearing system, based on angular contact ball bearings from SKF Group is robust enough to withstand critical situations like runaway speeds – when the turbine loses connection to the grid and reaches high rotational speeds. As a result, the turbine does not need to be emergency shut down, which is a significant advantage. This upgrade is expected to increase electricity production and contribute to the continued focus on #renewableenergy in #Sweden. We look forward to more installations like this, which will make our energy systems smarter and more sustainable. 🇸🇪🇩🇪🇪🇺 https://lnkd.in/eTpCSeck

It's #ThrowbackThursday again. In 2017, we built one of the most fish-friendly hydropower plant in Europe. It is located in Öblitz on the River Saale and runs on three #DIVETurbines, each of which produces 300 kW of clean electricity. The high fish-friendliness is due to a modern fish ladder, a horizontal fine rake and the speed variable #DIVETurbines themselves. They have a gap-free runner with only three blades and very low speeds, especially in the partial load range. Thanks to the unique design, the power plant is not only fish-friendly, but also completely flood-proof. Climate protection and biodiversity protection go hand in hand! #cleanenergy #fishfriendly #hydropower #renewableenergy
