Info
Eklipse was created in 2016 to help governments, institutions, businesses, and NGOs make better-informed decisions when it comes to biodiversity and ecosystem services in Europe. It has already answered 12 requests on a wide range of often contentious topics, by synthesizing the best available knowledge from both scientists and other knowledge holders. A European Union funded project until November 2020, it is now managed by Alternet, the European Science-Policy Interface on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services, from December 2020. Please have a look at our newly launched website to check all our evidence reports and so much more! www.eklipse.eu

🌍 Insights from the 5th #ESP Europe Conference! 🌿 Coastal resilience is about more than just protecting against environmental challenges—it’s about empowering communities to lead and sustain these efforts. What a week it was. First, I had the privilegde to present our work in Reunion Island, as part of the Move-On Eu Project with Cathleen Cybèle on knowledge co-creation for enhanced Ecosystem Services Management on Islands. Second, we had the opportunity to present our Eklipse work on making Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) truly empowering for coastal communities at the 5th Ecosystem Services Partnership Europe Conference. 🌊 In total, our Eklipse Knowledge Synthesis Report identified 63 concise methods, approaches and tools that can make your next #NbS project truly participatory or co-creative. Many thanks to our co-authors Cecilia Gañán de Molina, Ph.D., A. Rita Carrasco, Ananya Tiwari, Mia Prall and Jose Ponton Cevallos and the entire Eklipse Team! My highlight, however, was to chair a session on "Transforming ecosystem services research through knowledge co-production and participatory approaches" together with Jarumi Kato Huerta, Cathleen and Andreas Braun, with stellar speakers, including Gerid Hager and Enrica Garau, Matteo Giacomelli and Alhassan Ibrahim. Great insights to integrating local knowledge, fostering collaboration, safeguarding Ecosystem Services and ensuring Nature-based Solutions are accessible, equitable, and impactful. It was inspiring to connect with other experts and practitioners dedicated to creating a more resilient and sustainable future. Let’s keep advancing solutions that not only restore ecosystems but also uplift the people who rely on them most. What were your highlights? #ESP2024 #NatureBasedSolutions #CoastalResilience #SustainableDevelopment #CommunityEmpowerment
