This Monday, BatteryMBA welcomed Luke H., Co-Founder | General Manager, Global Business of Electroder for a lecture on: “Cell Life & Aging and Format Progression”. The lecture featured the prediction of battery cell life and failure analysis in a virtual environment, emphasizing the importance of virtual simulations to optimize and accelerate battery design and evaluation. Mr. Luke Hu highlighted the benefits of a simulation-driven approach, including the ability to evaluate different parameters such as coating thickness, depth of charge, and temperature, which can significantly impact battery performance and longevity. The discussion included case studies of multiple different cells (NMC vs. LFP, Mobility & ESS etc.) and their aging analysis (SEI film, gas, li-plating etc.), as well as the importance of designing for durability, recyclability and sustainability from the outset.
