About Missed Opportunities and the Power of Continuing - Real-Life Resilience at the Sawmill Last Tuesday, I attended a fascinating event organized by HUBTIQUE at the premises of Sägewerk und Holzhandlung Mayer GmbH. I could not imagine better masterpieces of #resilience than those shared during the inspiring panel discussion. The sawmill itself that's been in the Mayer family for eight generations. Standing there, surrounded by wood and history, I was struck by the resilience and dedication that keeps their legacy alive. Here are my take-aways: ➡️ A deep respect for nature, materials and sustainability: Mr. Mayer Sr. spoke passionately about wood and how they make use of every single piece of it. This respect has also allowed them to adapt through time—from farming to mechanical processing, they’ve weathered floods, fires, and industry decline. 💡Face reality - know, when it’s time to change - and let go of what’s not working anymore. ➡️ The power of moving on: When faced with setbacks, they didn’t dwell on what was lost. Instead, they focused all energy on rebuilding. 💡Get up and continue. Direct your energy ahead. ➡️ No room for guilt: Regret from past decisions only holds you back. Acceptance creates resilience, letting you focus on the present and future. 💡“At that time, I made the best deciscion I could.” ➡️ Clarity in purpose: Knowing your purpose keeps you moving. 💡Know your why and the how will show up on your way. ➡️ No FOMO - Don't run the risk of losing focus when you think you’re missing out on opportunities. 💡Embracing a single direction will silence the noise of too many choices. A big thank you to Blanca Mayer, Steffen Raetzer and Thomas Numrich for your openness and the valuable insights into not just what has happened in your lives but also what moved you internally. Your dedication set the tone for the further discussions in the network, which were just as open, appreciative, and enriching!
