Fires caused by overheated ion-lithium batteries from e-bikes & co. are increasingly making the headlines. The simplest solution is to store and charge the battery in special storage cabinets. Now, together with the VDMA, ECB, insurers and several manufacturers we have created the VDMA 24994 testing specification. Read our current press release to get to know more on this „burning topic“. We are also presenting it at the security essen fair, booth 6B39. https://lnkd.in/eFMZHu3F

Anyone who buys a #safe wants #security. In addition to a reference to the European Standard EN 1143-1 the #certification is important. However, there is a difference between an accredited certification (see examples in the picture) and just a certificate. "In principle, anyone can issue a certificate," says Falko Adomat, Managing Director of the European Security Systems Association (ESSA). "Only the accreditation of the issuing body proves that a neutral, competent organisation is behind it." It is therefore worth taking a closer look or asking: Reliable certification brands have a reference to their accreditation standard. If this information is missing: the certificate could be a bluff. More information can be found in our current press release. https://lnkd.in/eFPevcUR
Be careful when buying a safe: Many certificates are a bluff

What type of #safe do I need? This depends on the individual requirements – what do I want to protect, and what will my security requirements be in the future? Besides cash, also watches and jewellery, electronic devices to Pokémon cards are coveted by thieves. Therefore, the safe should be big enough for notebooks, smart phones, digital cameras and other high-tech products. Buy bigger than currently needed, as your need of storing items will certainly grow. A safe does not automatically protect against fire as well. And a fire-resistant product does not automatically protect against theft. For #burglary protection: check that your safe is certified by an accredited body and refers to the European Safe Standard EN 1143-1. For #fire #resistance: check that a reference to EN 1047-1 or EN 15659 is made. If you want fire and burglary, two standards must be indicated.

For safes the mechanical key locks are classified from A to D – A is the lowest class, D is the highest – however, until now a key lock of class D does not exist. The figure shows a very simple comparison based on the requirements of the European Standard EN 1300. Only the minimum requirements are indicated – manufacturers may always do more than listed in the standard. #security #locksmith #safestorage #safe #locks
