Product & Service Innovation @ EY etventure

"What are the challenges companies face when integrating AI?" This Wednesday, I had the opportunity to represent EY etventure at the AI Unleashed Conference and address this question. So, what challenges do I see? Countless companies have their AI use cases ready to go. An assistant for their website visitors or a "Chat with your data" application for their employees. The deployment of these use cases often boils down to questions of data security, data privacy, and the technical infrastructure. But what about the end-user? No matter how sophisticated an AI use case might be, if it doesn't align with my user's needs, even the most cutting-edge solution is doomed to fail. It's irrelevant whether the user is an employee or a customer. Users need to feel at ease with AI and trust in the technology. Particularly for employees, the adoption of AI solutions can bring about fears and reservations. I encourage every company to push forward with AI initiatives and other innovations, but I also hope that in the rush to leverage technical capabilities, we don't overlook the necessary cultural shift and the users at the heart of it all. A huge thank you to Daniel Fürg, Marija Mustapic, and Maximilian Glas for their insights, and to Lena Katharina Bödeker and Thamina Noorzai for the organization of the event. #AI #GenAI #AIUnleashed #Innovation #Munich #EYetventure

“Design Thinking – Theory to Practice” was the title of Florian Kraus' excellent guest presentation in my Master's course, “Introduction to Technology and Innovation Management”. Florian, a Design Thinking expert and principal with EY’s digital consultancy branch, etventure, emphasized the importance of a human-centered approach to innovation, of really understanding user needs. This can hardly be overstated! As Poolton & Barclay (1998) noted, “new products failure [is] highly associated with a ‘we know best’ attitude, especially where technical inventors fail to consult with potential users regarding new innovations.” TUM School of Management, Technical University of Munich, #innovation #designthinking
