The European Beer Star competition has been organised by the association Private Brauereien since 2004. It has long become one of the most important beer competitions in the world. European Beer Star prizes are awarded to high quality beers, which are genuine and full of character. Consideration is given to types of beer which have their origins in Europe. Any brewery in the world can take part: breweries with local, regional, interregional and international operations are eligible, not only from Europe, but also from all countries on every continent. Thus all those which brew their beers in the traditional, European way.

The Winners' Night is a special highlight of the European Beer Star 🥳 The event is not only a huge networking platform but also the long-awaited celebration of the winners of this year's competition. In addition to delicious food, guests can taste all the winning beers and get inspired 🍻 The event will take place on November 27 at the BrauBeviale in the evening after the award ceremony. We are already looking forward to it 🥇🥈🥉

Wondering which beer styles are the favorites of the European Beer Star team? Then let's continue with our series. Today we have Josef Schmidt. He is part of the team of consultants at Private Brauereien Bayern e.V..: "Since my training as a master brewer, pilsner has been the most exciting beer style for me, as the hops really come into their own here. It's a pleasure to absorb the hop aroma and taste the bitterness. A pilsner also encourages you to keep drinking due to its lean character. I think the trend towards less hop bitterness is a shame. For me, a pilsner can be nicely bitter!" What are your favorite beer styles? 🍻

The Future Award is entering round 3 of 3. The beers have been tasted and the best 8 applicants have been selected by the EBS jury. The breweries now have until the end of the week to prepare a presentation on the main topic of “Reducing primary energy consumption in the brewery”. These will be evaluated and the winners will be notified soon. The winners will be honored at the award ceremony at BrauBeviale. After all, sustainability is an enormously important topic and the participation of the breweries proves that they are also committed to it. We are excited!
