  • Understanding Germany’s Capital Gains Tax 📊💰 In Germany, a flat tax called the Abgeltungssteuer is automatically applied to your capital gains, such as dividends from stocks or profits from funds and ETFs. This means the tax is deducted directly from your earnings, so you don’t have to worry about filing it separately. However, there are ways to keep more of your hard-earned money! By filing a tax exemption order, you can benefit from a tax-free allowance of up to €1,000 per person or €2,000 for married couples or registered partners in 2024. This means that any capital gains up to these amounts are completely tax-free! 🙌 Beyond the basic 25% tax rate on your capital gains, you’ll also pay a 5.5% solidarity surcharge. Depending on your state, you might also be subject to an additional 8-9% church tax. Stay informed and make the most of your investments! 📈 #TaxTips #InvestingInGermany #FinancialFreedom #SmartInvesting #TaxPlanning #PersonalFinance #Expats

  • Germany has introduced the "Chancenkarte," or Opportunity Card, a new work permit designed to attract skilled non-EU workers to address its labor shortage. Officially launched on June 1, 2024, the Chancenkarte allows non-EU citizens to reside in Germany for up to one year while they search for employment. During this time, holders can work part-time (up to 20 hours per week) and undertake trial work experiences for up to two weeks. The Chancenkarte operates on a points-based system, requiring applicants to score a minimum of six points based on various criteria including education, work experience, language skills, age, and prior ties to Germany. Key requirements include at least two years of vocational training or a relevant university degree, proficiency in German (A1) or English (B2), and proof of sufficient financial means to support oneself during the stay, amounting to around €12,000【https://lnkd.in/daw6Y_fN. This initiative aims to simplify the process for foreign workers to move to Germany and help mitigate the country’s significant shortage of skilled labor, particularly in fields like engineering, IT, and healthcare. The Chancenkarte also provides a pathway for longer-term residency if the cardholder secures full-time employment during their stay【https://lnkd.in/diG6A2b9.
