For justice, for dignity, and for the right to life of the Palestinian people, social movements around the world, demand an immediate and permanent ceasefire NOW and accountability for the war crimes of the Israeli occupation! For over a year, the Israeli occupation has been waging a systematic campaign of mass murder that has resulted in the deaths of over 44,000 Palestinians, more than 104,000 wounded and more than 10,000 missing persons. The death toll continues to rise, particularly among children and women, as the brutality of the occupation continues unchecked. The use of heavy weapons, internationally banned white phosphorus, bombs, and relentless airstrikes has deliberately targeted civilians, healthcare infrastructure, schools and residential buildings. Severe restrictions on the entry of food and medical supplies have caused Gaza’s food systems to collapse, plunging Gaza into a famine zone, according to recent IPC reports. Already, 133,000 people have been classified as facing catastrophic food insecurity, resulting in widespread malnutrition. The risk of famine has been declared for the entire Gaza Strip between November 2024 and April 2025. Arbitrary and unfair detentions are increasing in the occupied territory, as are reports of ill-treatment, torture and inhumane conditions of detention. This situation deepens the settler colonial project and apartheid over Palestine, amid great impunity. It is urgent to continue to strengthen solidarity with the Palestinian people until their liberation. We will never be silent. Together, we must stand up for the right of the Palestinian people to establish their state justice and demand for the prosecution of the Israeli occupation for crimes committed against the Palestinian people. We also support the decision of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to issue arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. We demand all countries to respect their commitment towards the ICC and do their best to implement this ICC's decision. 🥣 Food is the most time-consuming of all the unpaid care and domestic work and of the activities recognized in most care systems. Mostly done by women for the reproduction or sustainability of life related to food and the guarantee of the right to food. ✨ As an organization that defends the Human Right to Adequate Food and Nutrition and Food Sovereignty, our commitment is also for the recognition of Food Care, which demands the recognition of the people who do it, mostly peasant women. 💡 Redistribution of food care is necessary, one in which the State is responsible for one part, the families for another, and women are no longer responsible for these tasks. ➡ The reduction of food care work is essential so that women can reduce the time invested and the physical and mental effort that this work involves, through adequate infrastructure, drinking water, energy sources, adequacy of rural and urban roads, among others. ➡ It is necessary that women who exercise food care in any part of this process be recognized and exercise popular food governance. Their criteria, knowledge and practices should be a guide for the guarantee of the DHANA and SOBAL

🔅 October 29th, International Day of Care and Support ✔ The international struggle for the recognition of unpaid care work has been central in recent years to reduce discrimination and the violation of rights of people engaged in care work, mostly women. ⚠ In the care economy, most of the time the rights of caregivers are violated because they are not recognized within the labor system, or they do not receive any remuneration or it is precarious. ♀ According to United Nations figures, the “global workforce dedicated to the provision of care is made up of 249 million women and 132 million men”. While the International Labor Organization estimates that women perform 76.2 percent of all unpaid care work, dedicating 3.2 times more time to it than men. 🔰 Of the universe of unpaid care and domestic work and of the activities recognized in most care systems, feeding is the most time-consuming.

EN: Today, Charlotte Dreger (FIAN International) and Mariana Santanelli (FIAN Brazil) emphasized participation as central pillar of the Right to Food at the #CFS side event “The power of the right to food for collective action – Global governance, policy and legislation to realize the right to adequate food”. Charlotte: “We don`t need multistakeholder spaces like the World Food Forum or the Food Systems Summit follow up - we need to strengthen multilateralism. FAO must support #CFS, strengthen meaningful participation of rights holders and create effective mechanisms for corporate accountability”. Mariana: “Global governance without participation tends to be nothing more than empty promises and false solutions. It is up to us to exchange more, to strengthen and form new alliances, and to seek funding to strengthen concrete experiences of social participation”.
