A first quick look at a few key points from the leaked proposal in relation to the CSRD as far as I understood the parts which were leaked (please let me know in the comments if I am misinterpreting something): ✳️ Significant adjustment of the size criteria with regard to the CSRD/ESRS sustainability reporting obligation: -       € 450 million turnover -       More than 1000 employees ✳️ Companies below the above thresholds would therefore not be subject to sustainability reporting requirements. ✳️ The date regarding the first CSRD/ESRS reporting obligation is to be postponed: "the criteria for determining the dates of application should be adjusted". In my opinion, no specific details can be gleaned from the leaked document. ✳️ No sector-specific standards ✳️ Adaptation / sharpening of the audit standards (to be developed) with the aim of making the audit "less burdensome". ❓ Let's see what's new from Brussels next Wednesday...

Erosion: Accelerated coastal erosion threatens infrastructure, ecosystems, and human settlements. 💰 Are we willing to pay the true cost of cleaning up our mess? 🧹 Or are we just hoping for a cheap fix? 🩹 We all know carbon removal is crucial, but what's the REAL price tag on cleaning up our atmosphere? 🌎 Different technologies come with wildly different costs AND climate impacts. 🌦️ Direct Air Capture (DAC) is the hot new kid on the block. Sucking CO2 straight from the air sounds like a dream, but it's pricey. Some say €100 per tonne is the holy grail, making DAC affordable and scalable. 💨 But hold on! 🛑 Reality Check: Most DAC today costs €500-€2000 per tonne. 💰 Even optimists predict €300 by 2030. 📅 The €100 Aim: This benchmark is OLD. Adjusted for inflation, it's closer to €130 today, maybe €215 by 2050! 📈 Current Social Cost of Carbon: This is the REAL cost of CO2 pollution - climate disasters, health impacts, the whole shebang. Estimates put it at €185-€266 per tonne TODAY. 🤒 The Bottom Line: ⬇️ Let's not get hung up on €100. DAC at ANY price is progress.
