Fully autonomous car sharing concept for urban environments ✅   The SEM research concept offers an inspiring vision of the future of premium mobility, showcasing what a vehicle for urban environments could look like. This autonomous shared vehicle adapts flexibly to a wide range of needs — whether it's for a cozy family trip with a toddler or a professional business meeting. The SEM provides ample space and exceptional comfort. Ever wondered what teaching AI to drive looks like? 👀 Here's a video sequence from a training session done by our very own Benjamin Sponagel. Even though it may look seamless, the AI is still making mistakes.    What you can see here are multiple AI agents in the form of multiple cars attempting to find a path to drive on. The colorful balls are the target points the AI must get to, to receive the rewards that incentivize it to stay on track.    Much like any new driving student in the beginning, they often can't make sense of the steering, throttle and break. But after some hours and optimization of reward systems one of them figures out the goal, which prompts the rest to follow. What we see here is the result of a few days of training.    We aim to have the AI successfully interpret the rewards and keep on the lane . The common challenges however are identifying the correct incentive to motivate the AI to act in a desirable pattern.   Tune in next week to know more about Ben's tips and tricks to streamline these trainings! Can AI Strategize? 🧐 Driven by curiosity and innovation, our team explores the immense potential of AI. Previously, Philipp Rahlenbeck and Nico Pressler showcased how AI-powered tools are transforming creative workplaces. Today, our Service and Business Design experts, Zeynep Özge Aydın and Frieda Bellmann, will share their experiences exploring the potential of using various AI tools in our strategic design process. In their family mobility project, they found that while AI was helpful for inspiration and research in strategic design, it required considerable effort for verification. They faced challenges in pushing beyond standard features, as AI, though powerful, lacks the creativity and strategic thinking inherent to humans. To all school kids, enjoy the holidays! ☀   The school holidays are the perfect time to remember one of our absolute favorite projects we developed in Potsdam!   The SEDRIC school bus was presented in 2018 at the Volkswagen Group Night Geneva - Shaping the Future. Urban Mobility. It's a fully autonomous electric vehicle that can transport kids without a driver. The idea is to show that autonomous driving technology will provide mobility for all, even those too young to have a driver’s license. As it's fully autonomous, parents could just call the bus when their kids are ready to go. The bus would then travel door to door, picking up other kids before taking them to school. While the exterior is finished in yellow and black with stylized graffiti that calls it the “Cool Bus”, the interior has a two-person lounge seat and a large OLED entertainment screen that promises to make the journey to school “seems shorter for the younger generation”.
