📢 New publication on "Battery Electric Vehicles for the Provision of Short-Term Flexibility - An Overview of the Potentials for Germany and Korea" is now available online: https://lnkd.in/d8EG4JW6 As both #Germany and #Korea work towards their climate goals—carbon neutrality by 2045 for Germany and 2050 for Korea—the integration of renewable energy sources and battery electric vehicles (BEVs) will play a significant role in reducing emissions and decarbonizing the transport sector in an efficient way. However, this transition comes with opportunities and challenges, particularly in managing the increased electricity demand and utilizing BEVs as flexible energy resources. This study, conducted by adelphi as part of the Team of the Korean-German Energy Partnership, focuses on the potential for BEVs to provide grid flexibility in Germany and Korea, and explores how these countries can use BEVs to improve grid stability and optimize renewable energy integration. Key findings of the study: - Regulatory frameworks: Both countries need to advance and implement legal and economic structures to support vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology and demand response (DR) programmes. - Demand Response & Smart Grids: Exchange best practices on smart grid technology, metering infrastructure, and off-peak charging strategies. - Standardization & Market Integration: Working together to standardize technical requirements and facilitate the market integration of flexible resources. 🌐 To learn more about the findings, read the full study here: https://lnkd.in/d8EG4JW6 Authors: Henri Dörr, Roman Eric Sieler, Lena Grimm, Daniel Meißner, and Mervin Hummel #Energytransition #BEVs #Energyflexibility #Smartgrids #Smartcharging #V2G

🌍 Reflecting on a remarkable Fact-Finding Mission 🌍 Last week, we had the privilege of hosting a fantastic delegation from South Africa and Namibia here in Germany, focused on the theme of Decarbonisation of the Industry using Renewable Energies and Green Hydrogen. From insightful presentations to inspiring site visits, it was an enriching experience from start to finish. The mission kicked off in Frankfurt am Main with an impactful conference featuring industry experts like Oliver Eich, Verena Lampret, Malte Gierse, and Chris Heinermann. We explored the future of sustainable energy with cutting-edge presentations on hydrogen, green methanol, and sustainable aviation fuels. We then embarked on a journey across North Rhine-Westphalia, visiting innovative sites such as the ETA Factory at Institut für Produktionsmanagement, Technologie und Werkzeugmaschinen - PTW, OWI Science for Fuels gGmbH in Aachen, NEUMAN & ESSER (NEA GROUP), and duisport - Duisburger Hafen AG, among others. The mission culminated at the impressive Wilo Group in Dortmund, where we witnessed pioneering technology converting renewable energy into green hydrogen. Special thanks to the Southern African-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry for co-organizing such a seamless and impactful delegation visit. A heartfelt thank you to all the participants, speakers, and hosts who made this mission a resounding success. The future of green energy looks promising, and I'm thankful to have been part of such an inspiring conversation!
