WATER, SANITATION AND HYGIENE FOR ALL Saving Lives and Ensuring Sustainable Development
Info
The German WASH Network consists of 30 German non-governmental organisations actively engaged in the water, sanitation and hygiene sectors (WASH). The members work in development co-operation as well as in humanitarian assistance and rehabilitation. They share the vision that all people on our planet have sustainable access to safe water and sanitation and independently practice all elementary principles of hygiene. Apart from joint advocacy activities to strengthen the WASH sector in Germany and beyond, the network aims to contribute to a professionalisation of the sector through continuous knowledge exchange and quality control, project cooperation and the improved interaction between humanitarian assistance and development cooperation.

We are offering a five-day training on Market-Based Programming for WASH in Emergencies for members and partners of the Global WASH Cluster (GWC). The training will be held from 20 – 24 January 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand. The training package was developed by the GWC's Technical Working Group on Cash and Markets (TWIG), first piloted in Nairobi in 2018 and has since been conducted several times both remotely and in the regions and has been continuously improved. The training aims to strengthen the capacity of humanitarian WASH practitioners as well as staff working for national or sub-national coordination platforms in the Asia regions (EAP, ROSA) to use market-based approaches, including cash and voucher assistance (CVA), to achieve WASH outcomes. The training will be held in English. We strive for diversity, equal representation of female and male participants, and a balanced mix of actors. We encourage local partner organizations (governments, local NGOs, etc.) to apply for and participate in this training. This training event is supported by the Auswärtiges Amt (Federal Foreign Office) Germany and organised by Malteser International and the German Toilet Organization. Please apply until 1 Dec via the online application form! https://lnkd.in/eb-5k_82

It has been a fantastic opportunity to connect and exchange with committed WASH colleagues from more than 20 local and international humanitarian organizations from various countries in the region and to mutually learn from each other. It was a super rich week full of learning and fun. A big THANK YOU to all participants for making it such a wonderful experience, to our colleagues from Hoffnungszeichen | Sign of Hope e.V. and #Koinonia for the perfect organisation, the facilitation team from German Jordanian University, Environment and Public Health Organization, Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST) and German Toilet Organization, and the Auswärtiges Amt (Federal Foreign Office) Germany for the continues financial support.
