These days, Hackney faces different challenges: Security issues and their endless aftermath 🚨 In 2020, the Hackney Council got breached 👺 288,000 residents were affected: 👎🏼 Systems (which allow residents to pay rent & council tax) were down 🏚️ Property purchases fell through 🗂️ Personal data of residents and staff was leaked Four years later, the council is still addressing the aftermath…⏳ The attack was caused by a "clear and avoidable error" 🤔 As the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) puts it: "Simple mistakes, like having dormant accounts with identical usernames and passwords" 🔑 This is a good reminder: ⚠️ Dormant (inactive) accounts are a major security risk. 🔒 And keeping access down, is the most powerful way to avoid such accounts. Least privilege.

Speaking to security leaders—these are their top-of-mind topics: 🍰 ARE WE AFFECTED? There is quite some ambiguity in the criteria. For example: All “Digital Services” fall under NIS 2. Interesting to see: Many companies simply prepare because their customers are affected. And customers expect NIS 2 compliance from providers too. 🍰 HOW TO BEST PREPARE? Most companies we speak to use an ISO 27001 certification. At least as a starting point. Because there is a strong overlap. P.S.
