Global Health Under Pressure: How U.S. Policy Affects Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights 🔗 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/diKT4tvg We’ve just published the first part of our two-part series article series exploring the impact of U.S. global health policy on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Funding cuts, restrictive policies, and the Global Gag Rule have had devastating consequences for healthcare systems, NGOs, and millions of people worldwide. To understand these impacts, we spoke with Angela Bähr from the Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevölkerung (DSW), the Berlin-Institut für Bevölkerung und Entwicklung, and Ottmar von Holtz (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen). How do these policies shape access to contraception, safe abortion, and HIV/AIDS treatment? What does this mean for global health equity? This article delves into the ongoing challenges and what’s at stake. #GlobalHealth #SRHR #USPolicy #ReproductiveRights #HealthEquity

🌍 Why Investing in Health Can’t Wait – Key Takeaways from Today’s High-Level Dialogue 🌍 We attended today's #DevelopmentPolicyForum hosted by the Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ) One message stood out: we are facing a global health investment crisis. 🗣Dr. Kalipso Chalkidou (WHO) and Angela Bähr warned that without swift action, decades of health progress are at risk. So, how do we bridge this gap? 🔎Dr. Marco Schäferhoff (Open Consultants) shared findings from the Lancet Commission on Investing in Global Health, highlighting the need for innovative financing models and greater efficiency. 🔎Dr. Anna-Katharina Hornidge (IDOS) stressed the importance of translating global recommendations into national action, calling on Germany to lead by example. But with scarce funding, how should priorities be set? 💬 Dr. Kalipso Chalkidou emphasized that countries must lead in defining their health priorities, ensuring that global support aligns with local needs. 🌍 Dr. Jean Kaseya (Africa CDC) echoed this, advocating for regional leadership and proposing to strengthen the Sub-Saharan African market for the production of medicines and medical products—reducing dependency and fostering sustainable growth. 💡 Dr. Ariane Hildebrandt closed the event, reaffirming Germany’s commitment to advancing global health, recognizing that health investments are key to resilience and equity. 🤝 The Global Health Hub Germany was proud to join this vital dialogue. We continue to address health financing within the Hub and foster cross-sector collaboration. For more insights, check out our policy brief. We hope that some of you were able to listen to yesterday's interview with our Steering Committee member Christoph Benn on www.hr-inforadio.de! Here is another insightful interview (also in German) he gave earlier this week on the impact of recent developments in the #US on HIV-treatment. #globalhealth #HIV #healthfinancing

🎧 Einschalten & informiert bleiben! #GlobalHealth #WHO #Gesundheitspolitik #Finanzierung
