Celebrating Excellence in Nuclear Research! We’re thrilled to announce that Henri Dolfen, a postdoctoral researcher at Ghent University and contributor to the GO-VIKING Project, was awarded the Best Poster Prize at the 2024 Nuclear Science Contest, organized by the BNS-YG - Belgian Nuclear Society Young Generation! His poster, based on his recent publication in Nuclear Engineering and Design, titled "Effect of stochastic deformation on the vibration characteristics of a tube bundle in axial flow", dives into flow-induced vibrations, a critical topic for the safety and efficiency of nuclear reactors. Exciting updates from the GO-VIKING project! 🚢 Our 5th Progress Meeting, held on December 10-11, 2024, at the Von Karman Institute in Belgium, brought together partners to showcase significant advancements in fluid-structure interaction simulations for nuclear reactors. Key highlights included: 🔬 Updates on the GOKSTAD facility and its first experimental results using advanced TR-PIV measurement techniques. 📊 Progress in fast-running methods, uncertainty quantification, and synthetic turbulence modeling to improve reactor safety and efficiency. 💡 Presentations on two-phase flow simulations, turbulence challenges, and insights into improving nuclear reactor design.
