GridLab was established in 2010 by 50Hertz as European Training and Research Centre for Power Systems Security. As of September 2018 GridLab became a subsidiary and as of August 2019 a fully integrated section of DNV Energy Systems Germany GmbH. GridLab is located next to the airport BER Berlin-Schönefeld.
GridLab offers advisory services, training services and aptitude diagnostics for dispatchers especially for operators of electricity networks from transmission to distribution level but e.g. also for grid operators of windfarms. GridLab operates a dispatcher training simulator. This simulator is used as the central tool for dispatcher trainings such as switching authorization courses (up to 110 or 380 kV) or grid restorat. It is also used for aptitude diagnostics like our Technical Assessment Centers (TAC) and Technical Development Centers (TDC). Apart from simulator based trainings, GridLab conducts also Human Factor trainings following the European Commission System Operation Guideline (SOGL).
