Very delighted to have attended today the exciting exchange of experiences between DNV's grid operator customers Elia Transmission Belgium as TSO and Coordinador Eléctrico Nacional as Chilean ISO at the National Control Centre in Brussels! Current challenges and actions in the operation of both very different electricity systems were discussed. The focus was particularly on grid congestion management and system balancing, central management of voltage and inertia, RMS/EMT modelling and dynamic security assessment (DSA), real-time application of PMU/WAMS and grid restoration aspects in the context of the further ongoing decarbonisation of both electricity systems. I am pleased to inform you that DNV opened a new location in Schönefeld (near Berlin) last Friday. Finally, after 2 years of preparation, all the planning, negotiations and conversion measures were successfully completed. It was a pleasure for me and my team to welcome colleagues, partners, suppliers and our valued customers. Let me share the highlights of the day: ✔ Our #DNV Country Chair Björn-Olaf Borth opened the day. ✔ Our Market Area Manager, Thomas Werner introduced into the wide area of services, which are available to a huge variety of market segments and are now also available at our new location. ✔ We gave short introductions / insights into our daily training business with our Dispatcher Training Simulator (GridLab (European Training and Education Center for Power System Security). ✔ Dr. Marina Krotofil, Frank Beuchler and Stefan Leipnitz gave insights into our Cyber Arena (IT/OT Cyber Security Training). ✔ Alexander Kupelian from Risk Management Advisory provided exciting and interactive insights with a virtual reality lens set. ✔ There were six service pitches, which were very insightful not only for external participants 😉. Heute nutzen wir einmal die ersten Minuten des Tages für einen kurzen Reminder zum Thema Sicherheit. 📣 Dabei geht es konkret um die Betriebssicherheit „geprüfter“ elektrischer Komponenten. 🔌 Unterhalb möchte ich dazu gern das Ergebnis meiner privaten abendlichen Power Failure Investigation (PFI) präsentieren. Was ist also passiert und woran bemerkt man eventuelle Fehler? Im konkreten Fall sind zunächst Wackelkontakte aufgetreten, die zu gelegentlichen „Betriebsstörungen“ geführt haben. Im weiteren Verlauf kam es bei der Nutzung sogar zu einem Funkenschlag und dem zumeist bekannten Geruch verbrannter elektrischer Bauteile. 🔥 Aus diesem Grund habe ich umgehend die Sicherung ausgelöst und das vermeintlich betroffene Kabel außer Betrieb genommen. Aus beruflich bedingtem Interesse musste das Kabel natürlich untersucht werden und dabei war der Fehler auch schnell gefunden und behoben. ❗ Hinweis: Elektrotechnische Laien sollten nie selbst elektrische Bauteile öffnen oder manipulieren. Bitte die Geräte außer Betrieb nehmen und als defekt kennzeichnen. Folgend entsorgen oder einer Reparatur zuführen. ❗            Offensichtlich lag hier also ein Montagefehler vor. 😞 Zu sehen ist ein recht neues und als „geprüft“ gekennzeichnetes Verlängerungskabel mit offensichtlich falsch „montierten“ Außenseiter und Nullleiter (linkes und mittleres Bild). Korrekt installiert sollten die Leiter in den dafür vorgesehenen Klemmen verschraubt werden (rechtes Bild). Wie dieser Fehler zustande kommen konnte, werden wir wohl nie erfahren, aber die potenziellen Folgen reichen vom elektrischen Schlag bis Brand. ⚡ In diesem Sinne: Seid wachsam und hinterfragt die kleinen „Fehler“ im täglichen Leben. #DNV #AssetManagementGermany
