Are Maritime Single Windows Living Up to Their Potential? In our recent press statement about the health check of Georgia’s Maritime Single Window (MSW), we noted that by commissioning their MSW, Georgia has joined an elite group—just 2% of maritime communities worldwide—that have fully streamlined and digitalized their processes. But where does this number come from? A recent BIMCO/International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) study (full report here: https://lnkd.in/eMmc6jSR ) offers a striking insight: while many MSWs are operational, only 2% utilize real-time digital message exchange (XML or equivalent). The vast majority still function primarily as repositories for documents or spreadsheets. (See page 10 of the study for details.) While having a central repository is a positive step, over-reliance on PDF files and Excel spreadsheets limits the potential to develop maritime intelligence, enhance forensics capabilities, or adopt a true management-by-exception approach. The gap between the current functionality of MSWs and their true potential presents a significant opportunity for ports and operators to move from static storage to dynamic, data-driven systems. If your MSW currently operates as a document repository, there’s a clear pathway to achieve more. Let’s discuss how we can help your organization move forward—feel free to reach out: https://lnkd.in/eBxTWdgH #MaritimeSingleWindow
