We have already announced our presentation on sugar alcohols at the ECS – but how did we actually come up with these findings? 👀 Our work on sugar alcohol-based polyester acrylates was developed as part of our collaboration with the Fraunhofer WKI. We have been working with Dr Tobias Robert and his colleagues from the binders and coatings working group since 2019. What exactly are we researching? 🔎 The research is focussing on (partially) bio-based radiation-curing resins for printing inks and coating applications. And our work to date has already paid off: We successfully developed UV oligomers containing sugar alcohols such as sorbitol and xylitol. We are pleased that our outcome is now a focus topic at the European Coatings Show in Nuremberg and that Justus Back, Innovation Manager at hubergroup Chemicals, will give a conference presentation on this topic. On February 7, printers led by João da Costa Pimenta protested for better wages and conditions – with success! In fact, the day marked the birth of the Brazilian graphic arts union.
