When seconds matter, telco connectivity makes the real difference. ⚡️ As part of the Telco Network API Challenge, powered by Deutsche Telekom and T-Mobile US, Croatian startup GIRTAB explored how Network APIs can optimize location tracking and movement analytics for industries that rely on precise real-time positioning. 💡 Think logistics, transportation, emergency response and more. The challenge? GIRTAB set out to enhance movement analytics and location tracking in dynamic, high-risk environments where connectivity disruptions can lead to inefficiencies, delays, or even safety risks. They needed a solution that could ensure precise, real-time data transmission under varying network conditions! The solution? Supported by our tech experts, GIRTAB leveraged Telekom's Quality on Demand and Location Verification APIs to secure higher-priority connectivity, ensuring faster response times, better infrastructure protection, and reduced risks of accidents. 🔬 By testing in our cutting-edge 5G Lab in Kraków, the startup team proved that API-powered connectivity isn't just theoretical. The first-ever T Challenge winner? That's PHYTunes Inc! When its team launched the company in 2020, they entered the T Challenge's first edition as their “real test.” Competing against hundreds of other companies, they won first place in the T Challenge 2021, setting their journey in motion! 💡 PHYTunes' solution impressed the judges from Deutsche Telekom and T-Mobile US: bringing 5G closer to users via innovative wireless signaling and wireline, their technology delivers multi-gigabyte speeds, ultra-low latency, and seamless connectivity, redefining network infrastructures. Co-Founder Mike McLaren shared that "the award, without question, helped kick-start the company." 🎯 On the impact of claiming the T Challenge victory and hubraum's role: “Winning truly set us up for success! The award's recognition and €150,000 prize money also triggered a subsequent investment from hubraum. It also granted us access to executives and real-world use cases to solve. These initial investments from Telekom and hubraum then attracted other investors. Without a question, the T Challenge helped kick-start our company!” 🤝 On collaborative projects within the Magenta ecosystem: “Right now, we are working on a solution for Slovak Telekom to provide a low-cost, high-performance option for private networks. 5G private networks can be expensive for the end customer, so we are developing a Single Frequency Wi-Fi Network that offers the ubiquity of Wi-Fi with the mobility and security levels of 5G.” In 2025, the T Challenge will echo its legacy since 2021 and focus on AI in six key areas: network technology, fiber rollout, sustainable power consumption, sales and service, network APIs, and security. We look forward to putting AI at the heart of telecom with forward-thinking founders, innovators and developers!
