#Establishing a #Production #Chain for #Sodium #Ion #Batteries ⚡🔋 At the 3rd #NIBlog project meeting in Weimar, we discussed the current project status with our partners and decided on the next steps required to achieve the milestones. A special highlight: the participants from Daikin Chemicals, E-Lyte, Fraunhofer IFAM & UniverCell Holding GmbH visited our e-chemistry laboratory and gained an in-depth insight into the analytical processes for developing innovative cathode active materials. Our Head of Research and Development, Karl Wegner, presented promising cathode materials, which are developed and produced in our available thermal facilities (rotary kiln and pulsation reactors). The project partners also discussed promising approaches in the field of cathode, binder and electrolyte development - essential components for high-performance, environmentally friendly sodium-ion batteries, e.g. in industrial trucks. 🔜 The next two milestones: ✅ Optimization of the synthesis conditions ✅ Scaling to a two-digit kg scale for the sampling of our project partners Many Thanks for the support of our associated Project Partners CreativeQuantum GmbH & Jungheinrich AG 🙏 We look forward to further progress in this pioneering project! 🚀 The “NIBlog” project is being funded by Federal Ministry of Education and Research with around 2 million euros under the funding code 03XP0557. Objective of the project: Establishing a production chain intended specifically for applications in forklift truck, warehouse and conveyor technology. The battery chemistry and manufacturing processes are to be researched and validated. The project covers all phases from the laboratory to pilot-scale production and end applications. #sodiumionbatteries #Innovative #environmentalfriendly #sustainable #batterymaterials #batterytechnology #cathodematerials

ReActiv Project - #Sustainable #Cementproduction with IBU-tec‘s expertise We are proud that we had the opportunity to support the development of new processes in cement development in the EU-funded ReActiv Project with our • Rotarykiln Technology (see photo) & • Expertise in Thermal Processing • Expertise in Material Development @IBU-tec site in Weimar. In one of our 16 rotary kiln, we carried out the clinker burning with a new raw meal mixture based on bauxite residues and tested the feasibility of the process. We are excited to support the step from laboratory tests to the first continuous process on a pilot plant scale. #Objectives of the ReActiv Project: 🌱 Sustainable value chain that smartly combines alumina and cement production 🌱 The by-product bauxite is no longer regarded as waste, but is used as a valuable resource 🌱 Modifying the properties of bauxite residues and convetting into a reactive material suitable for new cement products with low CO2 emissions Thanks to our partner Holcim & Rahul Roy Research Associate at KU Leuven! 🌎 For a sustainable future for the construction and raw materials industry through a smaller carbon footprint and less waste! #Sustainablevaluechain #CircularEconomy #CO2Reduction #sustainable #cementproduction #bauxiteresidue #clinker Frédérique FEREY Tobias Hertel Christina Siakati, Ph.D. Rahul Roy Beatrice Vigogne Thomas Rammelt
